Last night, I put a couple of quid on Rhodes to score first and huddersfield to win at 6/1. The wee scamp scored goals 2-6 in a romp.
So I thought I'd start a thread to see if anyone has had something similar to ruefully laugh at.....

In my 1st attempt at poker, many moons ago, I called with 4 k's, what a fanny. The wife, house, kids and grandkids would be shoved now.

Cardiff vs Blackpool play off final. I put £20 on Cardiff and Bothroyd to socre and convince 3 of my other pals to do so. 20 minutes later Bothroyd goes off injured.

I stuck a couple of quid on Palermo to beat Udinese at home last season, both sides were sitting (I think) next to one another in the table, and Palermo had an excellent home record in comparison to Udinese who were very up and down away from home.
Udinese won 7-0.
Udinese won 7-0.

A few,
won decent 4 figure wedge on the horses, lumped more onto the dogs which was fine, then put £20 e/w on Middlesborough to win the league.........got to both cup finals............and relegated
Back when horse betting was written on boards I stuck £20 on a loser 10 mins after race had finished. Never got it back either.
Betting on a dog race whilst at Musselburgh races I did 1+2 £5 reverse forecast on next race (going by the paper), was nowhere so scrunched up slip and launched it. Cue 20 secs later the blower said my race was 'hares running''. It had been subject to a delay and I hadnt noticed I was watching a different meeting.
Of course 1+2 bolt up, so I have to go bin raking on the floor which seemed ankle deep in scrunched up slips
. Found it though.

No major losses, but putting money on Charlton week or so back, keeper gets sent off in the first 10 minutes or so. Also Lazio today, got beat 4 nil and a man sent off

And that was not a good start, losing the Doctor at this stage of the game is pretty catastrophic, the Mafia will be creaming themselves after that kill. Particularly when the Doctor is as skilful a player as Forehead is.

I had money on Celtic in the corner handicap market versus Ross County at Dingwall in the league cup. Celtic ahead well into injury time and my bet was up, Charlie Mulgrew then dispossessed a dangerous County attack in the left back spot, he strode forward to the edge of the box and swung a pass to no one right across the pitch and out for a corner on the other side of the pitch.
It's a market that often carries a bit of luck but that was almost surreal. I certainly said D'oh and a few other choice words!!

When I used to work in the bookies I had a person come in proudly with his winning coupon, only for me to tell him it was a loser as he did what G-Man did and put it on HT results.

Bet on Kris Boyd to score 1st for Scotland. He scored 1st. I then noticed I bet on him to score last!!!!
Also bet on Swindon to win League 1 about 10 years ago. Then noticed I had bet on Swansea! Swindon finished 5th bottom and Swansea got relegated to League 2

Though I'd backed the winner only to be sternly told otherwise when going to collect my winning pissed at the Curragh.
Not checking the oddschecker hyperlinks on darts betting and putting few hundred on wrong market when arbing.
Not thinking a deposit had gone through and accidentally putting twice as much on arb for Sunderland to knock our Birmingham in the league cup a few years ago where it worked in my favour.
Putting £100 on Cameroon to win their group in last ANC with a few minutes left in final game as wiki had them top on the wrong criteria.
following through in ladbrokes this morning.

This seasons PDC World Darts Championship. Before the match they are talking about Simon Whitlock's broken foot and how he might not make it through his match. Sounds like sound logic so I stick a tenner on Dennis Smith. Of course Whitlock managed to defy the pain barrier and obliterate his opponent 3-0 with the highest 3 dart average of 1st round!

I put money on smith aswell. The way the presenters were talking sounded like his leg was hanging off,I have faniced a couple of horses but been put off by the fact that there is a woman jockey on board,of course they all won.

A few years ago when doing a pre-season handicap league bet I read along the line wrongly and accidentally clicked on Airdrie United to win instead of Queen of the South.
It was made all the worse because the money bet, though all on my account, wasn't all mine. Two colleagues had given me money to bet for them too.
I phoned whichever company it was (Hill's I think but I'm not sure now) and successfully managed to persuade them to void the bet and refund the money before placing it where it was supposed to have been placed in the first place. So that was lucky.................
...........except that nine months later when it was all tallied up to no great surprise Airdrie United turned out to be the winners of the damned thing! We did get an each way payout that season but if I'd left the money on Airdrie we'd have gotten a lot more

Last week I decided to chuck accumulators and went for Goals Galore - I took two of the games as 'No'. Line cuffed after 20 minutes.
Few years ago Clyde played Thistle at Firhill, we were under John Brown, we had about 8 injuries and in a horrific run of form. Never been so sure of a defeat in all my life. Ian Maxwell then plays a pass back to Johnny Tuffey who completely misses the ball and it rolls in the net. Without a shot on target the whole game, we hung on to win 1-0. I think I was 15 at the time and had £20 on Thistle.

Put 5 draws on today ... Over an Accy and trebles
Hibs/Aberdeen (0-0)
StMirren/Motherwell (0-0)
Morton/Falkirk(0-0)
Raith/Ross County(1-1)
and Lastly i picked Clyde/East Stirling (3-0) when it was between that game and Killie or Ayr games which both finished as a draw !!
Won 145.00 from a total £12.00 stake though would have won £845.00 if i hadnt chosen my own team who o thought were a stick on considering we aint been scoring goals and not losing by much either
Never been so dis-appointed in beating the bookie in my puff
Sigh
