01 Fopp Records : The best record shop in the city. Cheap, good choice, knowledgeable staff and not bad for books, dvds, t-shirts and accessories. The shop on Union Street is the best but the Byres Road branch although smaller, is still worth a visit if you're in the area.

02 Pancho Villas : Best restaurant in Glasgow. For a city of this size there isn't actually an overabundance of Mexican eating places which only adds appeal to this Bell Street eaterie. Great food, good portions, nice atmosphere, attentive but not overbearing staff and decent prices make this my first choicie for eating out in the City.

03 Tinderbox : Unlike some coffee snobs I really don't mind the 'chain' coffee shops but given the choice Tinderbox would be my first choice for a coffee stop in Glasgow. Probably slightly more expensive than 'CostaStarbuckNero' but well worth it for something a little different. The branch in the West End is my favourite followed by the one on Ingram Street while the one at the top of Prince's Square is the favourite of Mrs Mighty Meadow.

04 Molly Malones : Anytime I'm in Glasgow I always seem to end up in here even if it is just for one beer. I don't know if it's the location, the constant showing of sport on the televisions, the great beer, decent range of whiskey or the pretty decent food but this Irish (theme) Bar at the top of Hope Street has become a favourite haunt.

05 Ibrox Stadium : It's a very rare occasion these days that I visit Ibrox but I still have many happy memories of the place. Players like Davie Cooper. John Greig, Ian Durrant, Brian Laudrup, Paul Gascoigne etc, etc will probably never be seen at Ibrox again but the good memories will always be there.

Glasgow mate... Bishopbriggs ain't in it! The only connection is that Glasgow Scientific Services are based there, but it's in East Dunbartonshire who have council offices there.

i don't remember that one although I no doubt would have bought stuff from there back in the day. I always thought the original Fopp was in a market somewhere in the city. Probably thinking of something else entirely.

Steps Bar...Glassford Street,,,,,,,,,,great timewarp pub.

Brooklyn Cafe...Shawlands......brilliant French Toast.

The Transport Museum....superb day out.

The Horseshoe Bar....predictable I know, but still like this pub.

The Butcher's shop Restaurant, Sauchiehall St, bit of a ponce that runs it, but good steaks and a nice environment.

Wikipedia has it as Decourcey's Arcade next to Byres Road, but was the first "proper" shop not in the Savoy Centre??

King Tut's Wah Wah Hut - seen some superb gigs there, and the food's not too shabby either. I'm hopeful that someone I saw there makes it huge so as I can one day say "I was there", and considering the calibre of big bands that have played there at some point in their careers then I'm fairly hopeful.

ABC - again, seen some cracking gigs there and got very very drunk so I'm having that.

Glasgow Central - don't know why I like the place, but I just do. Maybe it's just the familiarity of coming off the train and knowing where you are instantly.

Transport Museum - I liked the old one, but the new one for me beats it due to all the new stuff that's in it, I'm a fan of big shiny things. It's not hard to please me generally.

Barrowland Ballroom - the area around it's a hole, but I've yet to see a bad gig sound-wise in the place. Great times.

Kelvingrove Gallery - full of interesting crap
Woodlands Road - the Lobey Dosser statue. A fine tribute to the ace Bud Neill.
The Garage, Sauchiehall Street - seen some good gigs here
The Blue Lagoon- our family always seemed to go there for our tea whenever we went west...
Pollok Park. Scene of the only goal I ever scored in my life: Meadowbank Supporters v Dumbarton Supporters on a baked hard clay pitch. Unfortunately I was playing as a "ringer" under a different name!!
Edinburgh City Football Club-
trophy grabbing upstarts since 2011!

1) The Barrowlands - Total shitehole, but the best place I've been for a gig in terms of atmosphere

2) Ashton Lane - Some of it's too pricey but The Grosvenor is a nice place to get a cheap pint.

3) The West End in general - Lived there for a while when I was very young and now I find myself living there again. Really nice place.

4) Bamboo nightclub - Never had a bad night there. Three different rooms with different types of music, everybody's happy.

5) Celtic Park - Of course this isn't a favourite place of mine as I despise a large percentage of the people who regularly go there, but I see the OP has confirmed negative stereotypes about the true leanings of people who support his team, and I didn't want him to feel left out.
Irn Bru - The Establishment Drink. ABIB!

1. Barrowlands. Such a good venue its worth having to walk through a bit of the East End.

2. Transport Museum. Excellent new building and great inside.

3. Tinderbox. Prefer the Ingram Street one. Good coffee, good tunes and the custard tarts are immense.

4. Hampden. For a Scotland game

5. The original 13th Note on Glassford Street. Favourite pub ever.

6. CCA. Great place to sit over a beer

And the fact I've seen Rovers get promoted at Firhill and Hampden and win the league cup at Ibrox. Happy memories.

Blue Lagoon? Really?? All of them would be competing for the city's worst chippy award.

I'm letting you away with The Garage because you qualified it with 'for gigs'

1. Celtic Park - Such a good venue it's worth having to walk through a bit of the East End ;)
2. The Arches - The Arches is second only to Parkhead in terms of the number of emotional nights had there
3. The Wee Curry Shop - We're spoilt for choice for great Indian restaurants but I'd say this is the current frontrunner
4. King Tut's - Great venue for gigs. Toss-up between this or the Barras really.
5. The Merchant City - Slightly less pretentious than the West End, slightly less bammy than the City Centre, lots of good pubs.

IMO The Riverside Museum sucks in comparison to the old one at the Kelvinhall; it's so sterile. The only thing good about it is that the best of the street traders are located in the vicinity.

1. Missing. It's a wee media(not really sure that's the right word) store underneath Central bridge. Sells second hand dvds, cds, records and other stuff, do pretty decent deals on dvds at least(it's all I buy there)

2. Cineworld. Orange Wednesdays, £2.85 for a film, magic Posted Image

3. Forbidden Planet. Comic and other geeky things.

4. GFT. Neat little cinema just off Cineworld. Good wee quiz every week as well.

5. ABC. Love it for a gig venue. Just edges it infront of the Academy, just based on who I've seen at the ABC(Public Enemy, Reel Big Fish, Bad Religion) than the Academy(Megadeth, QOTSA)

Honourable mention to the Cathouse, pretty much the only club I enjoy, clubbing in general is shit though(f**k dancing).

This. It's fucking stinking. Anyway...

The Sub Club. A wee bit long in the tooth for it now but don't think I ever had a bad night in the place.

Tinto's. A cracking wee tapas bar in Battlefield. Great grub, very reasonable prices and intimate enough to take the good lady out for a nice meal.

The Barrowlands. No explanation required.

Central Station. It's where you go to get the train to Ayr. And it's much better than Queen Street, or Buchanan Street Bus Station.

Urban Outfitters. Always a cracking selection of gear.

Exactly, especially the grotty ones around Central Station. The one in Shawlands is okay, but the rest are holes!

Pizza Crolla on Hope Street is the only decent one of the chain chippies around the centre of town... especially after we took away their "batter making device" from the one on West George Street which was the funniest thing I've seen in ages!
