I was thinking of placing a handicap double at the weekend. However when on the William Hill site and add them to my slip, it doesn't give me the chance of betting on multiples? Do they not allow this or am I being a retard?

Paddy Power accepted a £15 double on St.Johnstone -1 (10/11) and Hearts -3 (9/5)
I believed Hibernia22.

I don't think Paddy Power are my friend anymore. Don't think I would risk Hearts at minus three or four.

Ross County are 11/8 -1 goal at PP. Very tempting.
Also Falkirk -1 at 13/10.
Also Falkirk -1 at 13/10.

Looking at the handicaps, it's an absolute goldmine.

Do you have to have an account to see match odds for the Scottish Cup games on Paddy Power? They're not available other than on oddschecker by the looks of it.

IIRC Hibs were priced at something like 13/8 (-2) against Montrose a couple of seasons back. I all but emptied my bank account on that. Couldn't believe the price at the time and broke the golden rule of placing far more on that than I could afford to lose at the time. Hibs were 2-0 up when Montrose pulled one back and I was seriously flapping. Think Hibs went on to win it 3-1 with a late goal. Never again I thought, but some of the handicap prices available this weekend are massive in terms of value. No multiples though as that's asking for trouble.
Worth remembering that the lesser sides will be playing for pride this weekend, where-as the senior clubs could see it as an easy passage to the next round and apply themselves accordingly. A dangerous mix if your placing large sums on multiples.

Hibs won that game 5-1. If they did win 3-1 you would have lost your bet. I had it doubled up with Ross County (-1) Vs Stirling Albion. Ross County scraped the win that day.

Yeah you're correct, and have a better memory than me! I think the 3rd goal was late(ish) though, around the hour mark or so. Certainly wasn't as clear cut as the final score suggested.
'Total team goals' may be a safer way of doing multiples if that's the way people are going.

Looked back and County (-1) were 2/1 to beat Stirling Albion that day. County made me sweat that day ran out 9-0 winners.

Ross County -2 at home to Stenny looks pretty good at 2.75. As does St Johnstone -2 at home to Brechin at 2,30.

I am not sure if County (-2) is worth a bet. Alex Cooper will be making his debut. (-1) I would recommend. County could make the game safe and then take on him in midfield and the game might not be so comfortable. But I guess you have to risk it for a chocolate biscuit.

On multiples perhaps, but as stand alone bets some of these are an absolute shoo-in.
Forfar can play for pride all they want, but given they lost 5-0 at home to Morton earlier this season, I'd expect Aberdeen to easily overwhelm them -1 goal. The gulf in quality between the full-time and part-time sides almost always shows.
The only one I wouldn't touch is Hibs at Cowdenbeath, but the rest of the smaller sides have thankless tasks this weekend and should all lose by at least two goals.

I think I will have a small wad on County -1 to cancel out the annoyance of getting beat. We are playing very poorly at the minute with Paton, Murray and McHale either injured or misfiring it doesn't look good for us.
This is my territory be on your way...

i've said it before but it's hard enough to pick the right result nevermind -1 or -2 goals. ross county are being mentioned v stenny, stenny lost to falkirk 3-1 (roughly same standard as county) in the league cup. in that game stenny were 1 up and should've been 2 up if the ref had given them a certain penalty (one of the worst decisions i've ever seen falkirk benefit from) any handicap bet would've been burst if the ref did his job. having seen both teams i wouldn't go near the handicap betting, how many times have 1/2 or 1/3 shots put your coupon down? picking results are hard enough without making it harder!! (obviously i used stenny as an example so watch as they lose by 5 or 6 this weekend, lol)
everything i post is a cry for help...

Yep, I'm with you and mid-table here.
I've always viewed Handicap betting on footie, like Half Time/Full Time as a mug's bet in general. Obviously they won't all lose, but I don't think they offer value.

When Stenny played Falkirk, we were in great form with all our key players fit. We've got a few injries to key players at the moment and on a poor run of results. Using that as a comparison is silly.
I've never lost a handicap bet in approx 8 bets. Like anything else, you have to pick and choose the right ones.

i used stenny as example purely as it'd been commented on during the thread, i do think though that people in general over estimate the difference in standards between divisions and for every thumping a lower league team gets there are loads of tight games or actual shock results although saying that i've never looked at the result statistics in the scottish cup so until someone checks the stats everything else is just opinion!!

I think the bookies distinctly underrate the difference in standard in the Scottish cups. For example, Morton have played three lower league opponents, all away from home this season, and have won 3-0, 5-0 and 8-0 respectively. I got 8/11 on Morton just to win the 8-0 game, and with HT and handicap betting I made a substantial profit.
We're not exactly SPL quality and I'd expect teams of a higher standard to be doing similar in the games I've selected: Forfar v Aberdeen, Falkirk v East Fife, St Johnstone v Brechin and Ross County v Stenhousemuir. The only way of telling will be in the scores tomorrow though.
