I'm putting this out there, as I have done a couple of times before, as I have a spare ticket from Betfair this Tuesday for their box at Manchester City v Liverpool. I haven't been able to give it away despite my best efforts so far since everyone I know is either back at work next week and/or doesn't fancy it. I do have the fallback option of taking a family member who doesn't really want to go, but I thought I'd see if any gambling forum regulars fancy it. Probably a long-shot given it's in Manchester on a work night for most people, but you never know I suppose.

This is the deal:

Meet me in Manchester no later than 5pm on Tuesday evening. There'll be a meal and free drinks all night, box closes at 10:15pm.

or

Meet me in Newcastle at a time to be determined, probably sometime in the morning, as I'll be driving to Manchester on the day. I'll be heading back to Newcastle after the game is over also.

Any takers please get in touch by tomorrow (Saturday) night at the latest as I want to know exactly what's happening by then. Any questions or daft comments are welcome. ;)

This would be an amazing experience blue but youve hit the nail on the head that its probably the worst time of year to find someone to go. :(

I'm sure he'll have loads of offers Posted Image

This is something that would suit me, can get down in time and is available, but alas im not a "gambling forum regular" so hope one of them take Mr. Blue up on it so he isnt a loner in the corner Posted Image

I've had three PMs from people who as far as I'm aware have never posted on the gambling forum. I'll not be sitting in the corner, but it looks like the ticket might be going to waste :( (or I may have to force my mum to go  ).

Surely taking one of those three would be better than going to the football with your mum!

That's a very last resort. Although the meal will be superb as Manchester City have apparently vastly improved their hospitality facilities since they got taken over, so it's not all about the football. I've taken my gran to horse racing before, and unfortunately a drunk Betfair customer gave her a big kiss. Didn't spoil her day though.

Even though he talks himself down, at least South Lanarkshire Jag is an occasional poster. The others I didn't know from Adam. I will find someone male and interested in football, it's just proving rather harder than usual. If this game had been tomorrow or Monday, would've been no problem at all.

This has to be one of the strangest things i have seen on here.. Someone offering a chance to see world class players with drinks and a meal, for FREE, yet only a couple interested. Think you should take SLJ. You wouldnt want the awkward moment of someone planting their lips on your mum now would you?

You had to be there, it was rather comical if anything else.

SLJ would be welcome to it, but he seems to think he's not worthy.

I wouldn't say i'm not worthy of this wonderful experience, more if a more regular poster in the Gambling Forum wanted it, then they should get it. I am an occasional poster, nothing more and nothing less.

I'll definately accept if that's a formal offer Mr. Blue.

Are you sure there isn't any wacky initiation rituals to be followed though. Posted Image

That's very honourable of you, but as you can see I'm not exactly being bowled over by more regular posters wanting to come. There aren't exactly many gambling forum addicts these days anyway.

Like I say, if you want the ticket, you're more than welcome, just let me know ASAP so I can fill you in on the details. No kissing is required (unless you want to of course  ).

Excellent.

I'll PM you my phone number in a minute. Just so you know, dress code is "neat attire", which they take to mean no denim, no football shirts and no trainers.

Unfortunately i never made it. That sodding hurricane cancelled all trains from Glasgow Posted Image

Was really looking forward to it as well.

Thanks again Mr. Blue and maybe if the opportunity arises again then i'll be able to make it downPosted Image

It was absolutely superb in all sorts of ways (I'll tell the full story in the unlikely event someone wants to hear it?). Someone I asked to go originally who said she definitely couldn't go, was able to go when I was asking again yesterday morning when all the trains had been cancelled, so it all worked out well in the end.

The woman you took blue, did you get to ride her? Because if that forms the basis of the story then we're all ears ;)

You left before half time and got battered into her while checking the scores?

If I did I wouldn't be mentioning it here (it wasn't my mum either by way!).

Highlights for me were:
  • chatting to Ian Brightwell for quite a while about gambling and also what it's like to manage Macclesfield Town.
  • everyone was so drunk by full time, that the trays of many excellent cakes were left pretty much all to me. Never seen so much alcohol consumed so quickly. I was on the water and orange juice all night.
  • all the other guests were good people, I've met a fair few before and it was good to catch up
  • winning my bet

Bizarrely Manchester City are struggling to sell their boxes for the game at the weekend and were offering them to Betfair or anyone else for half price and less, so I might be back for more of the same then.
