I've just set up my new playstation 3. Everything seems to have ran smoothly until I try to play online. Every single time I connect to my wireless internet connection (which is 100% signal strength) it times out after 2 mins. Even setting up a new username had to be done in rapid time. I even tried to play a mate online at FIFA earlier on and got dc from the EA servers after 30 mins of match time. I've tried things like switch everything off at the mains, shut laptop down and fiddled around between 'easy' and 'custom' in WLAN settings but still get disconnected. Anyone experienced this before? Absolutely baffling.
Any help much appreciated

This could be shite advice but.....
When I first set up my xbox and tried to play online, I was constantly being kicked out of Fifa 10 online games.
This was at the same time I moved house and my internet had just been set up - when I tried to look into it, a few ppl suggested it was some sort of "settling in" period for my ISP to work out
what my requirements were etc (possibly a lot of pish?)
So may be worth phoning your ISP and telling them your issues, and ask if there is anything they can help with on their end.
Perhaps port forwarding may help? Check your NAT setting is not set to strict? You can customise these settings by sticking your routers IP into the address bar - try a search on google if unsure.

Thanks for the advice Adrian. I've asked several people and they've never had any issues with it. The online forums aren't much help either

What is your NAT type?
Have you tuned on UPnP(Univerval plug and play, i think)? You need to type your IP address into the URL bar and then login to your router and change it.

And that was not a good start, losing the Doctor at this stage of the game is pretty catastrophic, the Mafia will be creaming themselves after that kill. Particularly when the Doctor is as skilful a player as Forehead is.

Have a look at this website:
http://portforward.com/
Helped make my connection on the PS3 a lot more stable and no more jumpy FIFA games online. Just locate your model of router, follow the instructions for setting up a static IP and then follow the instructions for opening the ports for the games you play.

Thanks for the advice lads.
SaintsFan - might give that a try, thanks. It now works pretty well online. I get the occasional 2 second freeze but solved the problem by using a wired connection from the router to PS3.
