Cav's post race interviews usually have a few f bombs in there. He was really really trying not to swear in accepting the SPOTY.
He's taking a pounding on twitter over his speech, i thought he did okay. He totally deserves it.

Alan Brazil. The fat prat looks like he could do with spending some time on a bike rather than in a beer tent at race meetings. How can this guy be so obviously pissed at work & not turn up regularly & still hold onto his job? His knowledge of Scottish football is dreadful as well.
Well done Cav for sticking it to clueless clowns like Brazil. Well deserved.

the guy is obviously a great sprinter but he is also an utter tool who has done some disgraceful things on the road and made an arse of himself several times with his comments in the press. there's also the accusations against him that he gets tows from cars, he actually went up one of the climbs in the giro faster than the race leaders ffs. and he should have been fucked out the tour de france for missing the time cut. there is no way a footballer with similar on and off field issues could win the award.
it's also quite funny watching the mainstream sporting press forgetting about their digs about cycling being a farce due to the amount of doping involved. as soon as the uk became competitive that went out the window. it seems hypocritical that the same people who moralise about the boa drugs ban are happy to embrace a cyclist as sports personality of the year. anyone who thinks it's possible to compete - never mind dominate - clean will no doubt be leaving a snack out for santa tonight.
the wiggins love in pisses me off as well. in 2009 he climbed with contador (cheat), armstrong (cheat), kloden (cheat) and the schlecks (i'd bet my right arm they're cheats). join the dots.

here's a clue. if someone is succesful as pro road cyclist they are most likely cheating. there has probably never been a clean tour de france winner in living memory.
i love cycling as a sport. i love watching it but i hate the hypocrisy around drug cheats. riders that test positive get castigated while others that don't - eg armstrong - are heroes even though anyone with the tiniest amount of common sense can see that they are at it as well. post festina the british press ridiculed cycling and they had a point, it was still entertaining but it lost all credibility, now they lap up british success stories even when they are ridiculous like froome.
in sports such as football, rugby, tennis and boxing there isn't as much scrutiny but it's easy to tell 4 undeniable facts. firstly performance levels are improving at an incredible rate (barca, the us open final, pacquioa, hopkins), peds can provide huge benefits to athletes (peter korda, late 90s juve, shane mosley), athletes are not trustworthy and the people designing the drugs are ahead of the testers (armstrong, marion jones).
it's also clear that the media aren't interested in reporting on doping. tiger woods pumped a few birds and it was a huge story on the front page of every paper. compare that to the unlicensed doctor who was meeting tiger woods in hotels around america to perform prp therapy being jailed for smuggling hgh and steroids into the usa and supplying them to pro athletes. that story was barely reported anywhere, it's completely fucked up.
go to wiki and look at the world records for woman's track athletics. pretty much every record is drug tainted yet they stand.

Not one sports personality was drug tested more than Mark Cavendish in 2011, in the world.

How do you feel about football players getting injections allowing them to play through injury then?

are you talking about cortisone? fine, it mainly reduces swelling around injury i believe. i don't see any similarities between that and taking peds to boost peak fitness.
i read something a while ago about the amount of painkillers taken at the 2006 world cup, apparently it's extremely common and there is a lot of suppositrory use as welll
that's dodgy but a different kettle of fish to anabolics, hgh and epo.

Golf by a country mile, is the worst sport out there. Played by those born with a silver spoon, & watched by those that wish they had been. I just don`t get it at all, why the daft clothes? You could play golf just as well wearing jeans & a t-shirt, what other sports could make that claim? Darts & snooker, but they`re really just pub games.
There`s a lot of ignorance towards Cavendish out there, but although I know Luke Donald is a golfer, without looking it up, I have no idea what he achieved, or even what he looks like. It`s all down to opinions. Cav had one hell of a year & rightfully got the recognition from the British public he deserved.
Hopefully some athlete/rower/cyclist/swimmer/ any other Olympian dominates London 2012 & sticks it to the golfing world again next year.
