Not the draw you would want I'd suggest Bot boys.

In all honesty it probably wouldn't be our first choice either but in for a penny etc.....

You taking us seriously or are we just a bump on yer road?

Starting the same thread twice at that time in the morning Rob. Were you pissed and just back from a works night out..

I see the bookies have put us out to 33/1 after the draw.

Looking forward to the game. Not the tie I wanted at this stage but if you want to get somewhere in this cup you would probably have to face Talbot somewhere along the way.
I expect a better game than Rugby Park as both teams can obviously play better than they did in the final.
Never have I wanted a team to win one Scottish Cup game so much and then lose the next one as I do now.
Good luck to Talbot when they visit the PBS stadium to play the scumbos.

How many Talbot fans will be expected to travel to Musselburgh?

Hopefully this thread has a good bit of banter with all the decent Talbot fans.

Talbot also drifted out from 4/1 to 11/2.

Not the draw we would have wanted it will be really tough for Talbot, Mussie will feel they owe us one after last seasons final, and on their home turf aswell.

I am sure neither team wanted this one but thats the luck of the draw, it should be a good old fashioned cup tie infront of a large crowd one to get the jucies flowing.

As I mentioned in another thread, am not worried about the draw and who we get any more. Last seasons' trawl to the Final was enough for 3 of 4 seasons worth of worry.
Hoping it's a cracking game, and it should be, as both teams will obviously want to go further. Mussey are starting to build a reputation as cup fighters, and we've got much longer pedigree.
There'll be a huge crowd, no doubt, and if Goudie's forecasting it, at least 5,000. Can Embra cope with a 'Bot invasion twice in a fortnight?

BTW, best place for a real ale swally beforehand?

Staggs is Musselburgh's real ale pub (behind the Brunton Hall). Has a reputation for a great pint. Only 5 minutes walk from Olivebank.

From this it seems there are 3 closer ones. Just wondering which the locals would recommend.

Definitely Musselburgh station. About 15 minutes walk from the ground. Local taxi numbers are posted at the top of the ramp when you leave the station. You don't pass any pubs on the way to the ground if you walk from there.
If your getting the train to Edinburgh Waverley you'd be as well to get a number 44 or 26 bus from there rather than a train to Musselburgh as they take you straight to Musselburgh, North High Street. That's 1 minute from the ground and next to a few pubs.

Just had a look at your link out of curiosity. Just to confirm it is definitely Musselburgh Station.
The only other stations nearby are Wallyford (if your going to the races) and Newcraighall (if your going shopping to Fort Kinnaird).

I think this adds to the drama of the scottish cup, on the one hand we see the dark side of the competition where a club made up of servicemen are booted out of the competition for refusing to travel a phenomenal distance during the festive season and on the other undoubtedly tie of the round last years finalists clash, amazing, the competitions and the decisions, draws and outcomes never cease to amaze me.

Musselburgh are no ones mugs and are capable of beating any junior side on their day, their tightish pitch may benefit them but like most I suspect I will plump for Talbot to go through, 'burgh's defence can be exposed at times and Talbot's pressure may well expose this Achilles heel.

Fascinating match however and certainly one of the main threats in the competition will go out, I certainly hope 'burgh come through being from the east myself but its a tall order, still someone has to do it if Talbot are not going to march on to another Major Cup.

I wonder if the current uncertainty surrounding the Linlithgow job is likely to impact on this match or perhaps not at all as it may well be done and dusted by then again though it adds to the build up to the match.

Hi folks. I think musselburgh could possibly shock auchinleck in this quality cup tie, don't get me wrong, it will b tough but I think a lot of team/people under estimate musselburgh in general, over the past 4 or 5 years they have won roughly 4 cups including promotion to the super league and also in that time made to the big final, jus missing out! Another problem they may have come the time of this tie is the fact they may not have a manager????

Either 2-1 to Talbot, but hoping for a 3-2 Mussy!
