No Olympics for Euro 2012 players: England players who take part in Euro 2012 will not be selected for Great Britain… goo.gl/fb/5ng8Q

So.. Is this hypocritical? The English FA are organising the BOA's side but won't allow their decent players in.

Hopefully any potential traitors take note.

Time to shut this shit down and crank up the rules fom the sfa.

Who invented football?-- Scotland.

Where was football first played- Scotland.

We are the founding member and team group of countries is a crock of shite.

Calling the FA to have backbone and stick up to the EFA and others.

I know it wont happen, but lets just say for a laugh a few england players who played at the euros get called up for the olympics

Would the FA be able to do anything about it?

Yes... since the BOA have devolved the selection of the team, its management, and its logistical support, to the FA.

It's the FA who have sent-out letters to players of all 4 nations asking if they would be prepared to play for Team GB; and it's the FA, led by their employee and England U21 manager Stewart Pearce, who will select the final 18.

So it'll be the FA itself ensuring no-one is called-up for both.

Team GB will be weakened if players who make the final 23 for Poland-Ukraine are to be excluded from the Olympics. Has it been made clear if "take part" means playing lots or just being in the main 23?

Neither did we invent football nor play it first. Odd that 2 people gave you greenies for these two manufactured 'facts'.

Anyway, the last thing the board needs is yet another 'Team GB' thread. It only brings out the trolls such as you.

We didn't invent football, there was a thread on this some time ago. If you're tracing back to the uncodified mellees of medieval villages and colleges, then England has as much claim as us - perhaps a better claim in terms of odds. If you're tracing back to codification and governance, which is afterall what defines one sport from another, they were first.

I'm not sure what relevance it is to the debate anyway.

We did co-invent international football, that isn't in dispute.

nope.

The Roman Camp is where it all began this isn't in doubt. Any suggestion that Football wasn't invented and first played in Scotland is laughable.

nonsense.

As HJ says the organisers of this side have classed it as beneath the euros and aren't willing to send their best players.

Worth the debate when players from NI, Wales and Scotland ate being press ganged into this horrible BOA side.

I will. And I will be wishing that "Team GB" get defeated in every game.
It's getting kind of hard to believe things are going to get better. I've been drowning too long to believe that the tide is going to turn. And I've been living too hard to believe things are going to get easier now. I'm still trying to shake off the pain from the lessons I've learned. And if I see Van Helsing, I swear to the lord I will slay him. AHA HA HA. He take you from me but I swear I won't let it be so. AHA HA HA. Blood, will run done his face, when he is decapitated AH! His head on my mantle is how I will let this world know...how much I love you.
Die, die, die....I can't

Why?

I personally couldn't care less who plays and who doesn't. It's glorified pre season friendlies that no one really cares about. The whole 'f**k team GB' attitude is pointless. If you don't agree with it don't want it. I don't see what's not to agree with like, oh wait we invented football.

Because it is a farce and I hope they lose every game.

Good for you.

I find both rather odd, but particularly "Team GB".

Just to clarify:

Me giving this post a positive rep was a complete mistake. Cowden til I die is quickly assuming the vacant WUM role left by the Livi trolls, Dubs and H_B.

The real question : will it end by banning or breakdown?

So it's breakdown then. And I'd probably lean the same way.

I'm not fussed by it all though. I'll be supporting Team GB in it as I will, as always, be watching. Always nice to have a team to follow, so why not Team GB?

How lowly do you think of him?

Yep, trolling doesn't seem to be a bannable offence for "established posters". But what was once the best section of the forum seems to have a new candidate popping up just as soon as the last one fades away, using with exactly the same cliched material. H_B shot his load over Man Utds efficiency in the group stages far too early whilst Dubs is festering in a padded cell, I hope he knows what he is letting himself into.

Previously I was perplexed by any Scottish person of even remotest intelligence or awareness supporting any facet of team GB but is just dawned on me - Scottish people are the greatest cultural vandals of all time. Given our bizarre national psyche voting for the destruction of our much adored national game seems to be an eminently logical step. Once we join the English league we can talk about how terrible that is, talk about how it needs top down reconstruction and is the worst league that has ever existed anywhere.

I find it both fascinating and horrifying. If anything I am a little surprised Scotland isn't populated by masses of serial pleasure arsonists - all the evidence indicates it should.

I didn't find the Livi trolls to be particularly thick. dubs was, but at the same time wasn't a troll.

The username is all the evidence needed really. A name like that is inexcusable, regardless of what age it was chosen at.
