I think the general consensus on here at the time of the last Spain game was that a midfield 5 of Fletcher, Adam, Morrison, Bannan and Naismith were the best choice for the Scotland midfield.

Who would you pick in the Scotland midfield with these two out for a long while?

I would go with:

Cowie Adam
Bannan Morrison Snodgrass

Brown, Dorrans, McFadden, McArthur, Robson, Conway, Commons, Forrest, McCormack are all capable of getting in.

I'd like to think both will be back by the next game that matters - Serbia in September.

In the friendlies, I think we should play:

-------Brown---Adam----------

Morrison--Bannan---Forrest

I would play:

Dorrans Adam

Bannan Forrest Morrison

I appreciate that is perhaps a bit lopsided but I don't really rate either of our other defensive options listed above in Cowie or Brown.

Would definitely have Forrest ahead of Snodgrass though.

Both Bannan and Morrison are interchangable but do you think Morrison plays better centrally or out wide?

I'm just glad we have so many decent options now. Personally I'd have:

Brown Adam
Forrest Bannan Snodgrass

I think Morrisons better central but prefer Bannan. As I said though, a healthy backup of good players who can fit this system is encouraging
We are a team, of fame and fortune.

I remember the days when there was next to no debate about who should start in midfield. :)

I'd always prefer to have him out wide, because I think he offers slightly more there, whereas he can get bogged down a bit in the middle of the park. The main thing about the three attacking midfielders is the flexibility they provide. They can quite easily swap positions during the game.

I wouldn't be too disappointed with McKee's choice of McArthur to replace Fletcher. I think if Lidl were to sell their version of Darren Fletcher, you'd probably open the packet to find McArthur's fat face staring out at you. He has all the shit-kicking abilities, without much of the talent.

have to say whatever you pick, there seems to be a lot of very good Scottish Midfielders at the moment.

I think Forrest is a must, the lads been dif class this year. I dont want to talk down Fletcher, hes been great etc but for me i wouldnt play him, especially if Scott Brown is playing as well as i think they are to similar.

So:

...........Brown, Adam...........
Forrest, Morrison, Bannan

Well obviously you wouldn't play Brown and Fletcher...you'd play Fletcher.

Brown isn't a tenth of the player Fletcher is. Does McArthur even play regularly for Wigan?

Really wish Kevin Thomson wasn't so fucked. Type of player we could do with.

Yes.

I would have no problem with him playing despite only winning a few 21's caps. Keeping the ball is essential and he's the best man for the job.

No doubt he has a talent but he needs to playing games first though.

I'd probably put Brown in for Fletcher. He'll probably need replaced around 60mins after his inevitable booking and a couple of further fouls, so I'd probably have McArthur on standby.

I'd be tempted to put McCormack in to replace Naismith. I think that's a role he could operate well in.

There aren't really a clear set of midfielders that are better than the rest in the further forward positions, so there's plenty of scope for change. It's nice to have options.

Dunfermline boss Jim McIntyre must be at a loss to explain the succession of goalkeeping howlers he's witnessed from the frazzled Pars this season. I'm picturing a scene akin to Basil Fawlty whacking his car repeatedly with a branch after deciding "enough is enough!"

I would play

---------Brown----Adam--------

Morrision---Bannan---Snodgrass

But to be honest for the fromt 3 midfielders there is about 10 different options and I would look to play whoever is playing regulary and on form at time of the games

Do you think Morrision deserves ANOTHER chance?

Clearly he did well for a number of games but how long to we wait in hope that his form comes back.

He played well in Spain for me, so should still be in the side.

I thought Morrison was excellent against Spain and played well in the Cyprus friendly.

I reckon it will be:
AdamBannan Brown Morrison Mackie
Hopefully Naismith (at least) will be back by next September to replace Mackie. I can't see Forrest being involved until then because of U21 commitments.
