I could see Summer football having some appeal in the amateur grade, infact I think a couple of extreme northern leagues already use the format - albeit playing quite a short season. (May be Welfare leagues, I'm not sure).

Are the old problems though not:
* player and committee holidays/rival leisure pursuits/etc.
* council pitches closing, and shared pitches
* winter pre-season
* wet autumn meaning season drags-on/abandoned unfinished

You can't refuse to play on a 3G surface.

Even starting the season earlier could b an option we don't play end of June start of July when parks are dry.. Altho I suppose it depends if they were open

As both a fan and a referee I am all for summer football for reasons already stated on this thread. Can fully understand the "against summer football" lobby as it will curtain holiday opportunities during the close season.
As far as I am concerned summer football will take a change of heart from the traditionalists at the top of our beloved game

I think it'd depend on the local situation. I don't see it being seriously considered at Senior / Junior levels... but if there was an Amateur league using pitches that didn't close, and able to play a reduced programme to run say March-September (leaving weekends for postponements once the nights darken), it might work if players and committee-men were OK.

Clubs targeting an Amateur Cup run would have to play right through, though.
