Noticed on Spartans site they play a Hearts XI on Sat 31st December, 11am KO seemingly.

Haven't seen anything else yet... it'd be fairly rare for clubs to formally arrange matches and publicise them - bounce games sometimes go ahead. Saturdays being Christmas Eve and Hogmanay, and council pitches being closed, will reduce things further.

It's years now since any clubs took a competitive game during the Christmas break.

Cannot understand this. If clubs are going to the bother of playing friendlies why are they not playing competitive games. To me it seams stupid especially if you have some bad weather in the next few weeks they will have extra games to play at the end of the season.

I guess here are some issues around teams losing players at thsi time of year. I'd imagine most of the Uni sides would struggle to have their full squad available. Other teams would be missing key players etc.
