this cup has its own committee made up of south and east representatives as far as i am aware. probably takes weeks for them to organise a full meeting. really annoying for both teams for this to take such a long time to get a decision.

Annoying for Eyemouth are they are the innocent party here. Unfortunately for them Spartans have made an error and should be ejected. Ridiculous eyemouth have had to wait this long to find outwho their next opponents are.

Any idea when this committee meeting is? The third round tie is scheduled to be played in only a few weeks time so surely they need to get this sorted asap!

Decision has evidently been made, although presumably Spartans have 7 days or something similar in which to appeal - until which I suppose everything is still pending.
On Leith FM's Friday Night Football show they said that they had been expelled from he cup, and these quotes are from Spartans website from Friday (first is manager's update before Whitehill game):
All-in stages draw, presumably also made on Thursday, includes:

Last season we won all the domestic silverware but that won’t happen this time round. Gretna knocked us out of the East of Scotland Cup a few months back and yesterday we were ”removed” from the biggest cup we can win. Did I think the East and South authorities would look down kindly on us last night? Call me an old cynic but my worries John McCabe was on a wasted journey were confirmed when I got the text we had been thrown out the South of Scotland Challenge Cup we have sitting at the Academy. It’s up the Sam and I to channel any hurt or anger felt in the Home Dressing in the correct manner by producing a series of steely performances. We may as well start tomorrow.

As mentioned in Mike’s news item the South Challenge Cup competition committee have decided to expel us from the Cup as Keith was not properly registered. The Cup competition rules and the sanction available differ significantly from the Scottish Cup and we are very disappointed at this outcome. We will decide over the weekend whether we will appeal.

haha im confused, are they in or out lol ???
From what HJ has said, they are out, pending appeal of course.
As for who plays Glasgow University, I'm not sure, although there are two possibilities:
1. Eyemouth United receive a bye and play Glasgow Uni
2. Lothian Thistle are re-instated (as Spartans knocked them out in the previous round), and play Eyemouth for the right to play Glasgow Uni.

If you re-instate Lothian Thistle then do Craigroyston not have a claim as well after they lost to Spartans in round 1??
Surely Lothian Thistle should play Craigroyston for the right to play Eyemouth Utd to see who plays Glasgow University.
At this rate the final will end up just before Christmas, can the powers that be ensure that the final takes place before the world ends on 21/12/12 or this will all have been a glorious waste of time!

What happens if Spartans appeal and then win the appeal? They should be able to appeal as they have already been punished for the offence and any second punishment for the same offence could be considered Double Jeopardy! I will highlight could as it may end up very messy.

2 different games in 2 different competitions = 2 offences. They should think themselves lucky they havent been deducted points for the league games he played instead of moaning and squealing about this. They made a mistake, broke the rules, take your punishment and show some class.
