I've never been especially impressed with Snodgrass, though he undeniably had a couple of great seasons with Leeds. He's not an awful player but he'd be nowhere near first choice for Scotland IMO and I don't think he's good enough for the EPL. And as for the suggestion he's a better player than Stewart Downing, just

Wouldn't say he was better than Downing but Snodgrass is developing into a very good player. To be honest I see him very like James McFadden. Not particularly quick (not as slow as some are making out either) but very skillfull with a great left foot. Why can he not play in the Premiership? He is one of the top players in the Championship and if he was to play for a team that like wide players to get crosses in early he would be excellent. He wouldn't suit all teams but he would be great for Norwich or Stoke or someone like that.

Why do we always put our own players down? I've heard various people say Snodgrass is shit because he is too slow but then others say Peter Whittingham is amazing when he is as slow.

Yes the Premiership is played at a high tempo but not all players have Walcott pace and have to use their natural talent to play at the required standard.

Downing is poor, Liverpool fans not keen on him and Snodgrass will be at a top 10 EPL side this time next season. Downing will be on the bench with Carrol discussing Metallica.

The only player we have with comparable technique to Snodgrass, is Bannan. I'm not sure where he'd fit in, but he's very talented.

I think a move to the SPL definitely would hinder his progress. He's obviously found his level at the moment, however if he moved to the Premier League, he wouldn't be guaranteed a start. If he then struggled to perform, I imagine that he'd also be down on confidence. If we want him to perform for Scotland, we'll have to hope that he stays at his current level.

Cheesy what a load of nonsense. How can you say someone has obviously found their level when they haven't ever played any higher? No he wouldn't be guarenteed a start if he moved to the Prem but what player moving from Championship would be?

You say if he struggles to perfrom he will be down in confidence but what if he goes to the Prem and plays brilliantly in a team that suits him? We would have an even better player.

If we want him to perform for Scotland we want him playing well at as high a level as possible and if he can do that in the Prem then the more likely it is he will get a start for Scotland.
