We defended magnificently, Gala played good football on a very soft pitch. Made the call early to play the game as the pitch held up quite well, problems arose 10-15mins near the end when it started to get a bit boggy!
We took the lead through Jodie Easdon about 10mins into the second half, he did well to shut down not just the defender but then also the keeper, whose attempted clearance fell kindly to him giving him the easiest of tasks to put the ball into an empty net! Gala equalised with 15 to go making it a nervy finish.
An excellent point from a game most expected us to be beaten by 7,8 or more! Difficult to choose a man of the match for our website as everyone played excellently.

Quiet as of yet just the result no report!!
The Rovers have a good facebook page, with Rovers TV, etc they obviously have someone who takes pride in putting it together but they should be consistent in the reporting/updating. The result yesterday could be a very significant one for both clubs, I can't imagine Nobez will be in guid fettle this morning. I watched the Earlston game v Hawick LR yesterday the Legion have some good youngsters coming through and if they can keep them have the basis of a good side in the future. Having said that Earlston should have won by 2 or 3 goals only poor finishing and good goalkeeping denied them.

Good result for the Winton yesterday, back winning after a few bad results! It didnt make things easier that Winton had atleast 10 first team players unavailable, plus no keeper and a 50 year old making his 10th debut at half time when 1 of the boys had to go at half time! lol
Anyway 1st half winton played some decent football and scored 2 goals from crosses, the 1st one being fortunate having come of a Lauder player. The pitch was holding up good and some good football was being played by both sides with the Lauder front 2 looking very lively! Lauder had a good shout for a pen turned down at the end of the 1st half too.
2nd half Winton were shooting down hill but Lauder came at them from the start and it stayed that way for most of the half as Winton went down to 9 men, had no subs and had 2 players injured who had to play on!
Lauder scored a scrappy goal, had another pen shout turned down but Winton rode the storm and went out worthy winners for digging the deepest and taking their chances in the 1st half. Plus Winton should have won at Lauder at the start of the season only for excellent goalkeeping!
Few of the main boys back for next week so Winton will kick on from here and hope they can win their games in hand and climb up the league!

gala dominated the game from the 1st min hawick legion defended for there lives, gala should have had 2 stone wall penaltys had a goal dissalowed for nobes climbing on his own player, gala hit the bar twice post once and had two cleared off the line, hawick keeper making some excellent saves, credit to hawick they deserved a draw for the amount they battled in a mud pit,
best shout of the game coming from hawick touchline with 10 mins to go, LADS JUST BOOT THE BALL THE WAY YOUR FACING,
good battling performance from hawick and gala played usual game just one of those days

Haha, UptheA7 there will be a report put up on the Facebook Page, as always it is put up on a Sunday night so be patient I know it's usually a rivetting read for you.
As for the game, well just one of those days, the wee keeper Coick (I think it is) had an absolute stormer and the Legion players defended like their lives depended on it. We had one or 2 decisions that never went our way but that's football. Full credit to Clinton and his lads though who also tried to play football in what became a swamp and I would say for the way the battled and fought fully deserved the draw. I'm sure if they play like that for the rest of the season they will haul themselves out of the relegation places.
As for ourselves, well it's a long season with a lot of football to be played and I would say that the league is deffo still a 3 way battle between ourselves, Pencaitland and Leithen Rovers. Makes for a quite an exciting 2nd half of the season

Aye, it looks like it's going to be an interesting fight at the top & bottom of the league this year. I still fancy Gala to win it but Pencaitland will run them close. Any idea what the league have decided for relegation this year after Gordon dropping out? One team down, two promoted. Will there be any chance of two down, three promoted? Would be fairer on all the teams concerned in the relegation fight to know the answer now!!

The league never set out their stall until the AGM. Clubs vote on the day for the next season's set up. Going on past votes clubs should keep hard at it even if they are fourth or fifth in a league you never know what the vote will throw up! IF this proposed SAFA constitution comes in there may be changes to club numbers and league officials due to increased costs and all the administration that will be involved.
It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye.
