The Additional Charge is down to Hibs insisting on sending these out by Special Delivery rather than allowing them to be collected so it very much has something to do with Hibs.
If Hearts stop paying outgoings then the debt is guarunteed by the league so that's of limited relevance. There is no risk of nonpayment but there is of late payment.
The idea that Petrie is doing this to get more money is weak but the idea that he's doing this to get the money faster is being understated. He's got my Credit Card details already and it's not even December yet. if the sale was done normally (assuming Hearts paid within 10 working days) wouldn't have that cash for another 7 weeks.
Under cover of avoiding a risk of getting paid a couple of weeks late he's grabbed the cash 7 weeks early. Given Hearts' much publicised problems the finance director at Tynecastle may well wish they'd thought of it first.
Realising this also lets us see our club's treatment of Old Firm Tickets differently as well
The only legitimate complaint Hearts can have IMO is the issue of distributing tickets. When the only option for delivery is that extortionate (not from us mind) there really should be an option to collect. Obviously not in the lead up to the game, that would be an absolute nightmare. However if people are buying them now then there's no reason why collection from ER shouldn't be allowed.
Maybe the problem with that is for that to work the away would have to be sold out weeks in advance? Can't have Jambo's collecting ay ER last minute for security reasons, and by late Dec it may be too late to post tickets?
Either way a better arrangement should be in place as that price is harsh.
The issue of the liabilities being insured is irrelevant. In any business whatsoever you're not going to deal with a company who make it a point of policy to delay payment. Doesn't matter about cashflow, proper clubs have budgets, in which chasing up other businesses or the league for weeks to get monies owed doesn't come in to it.
Its a shite situation but Hearts have the people running their own club to blame unfortunately. On a side note £28 base price is absolutely fucking ridiculous but that's not a Hibs specific problem, and perhaps a discussion for another day
