Hold up, so by this logic, Sean Connery tucked away in the carribean, cannot be a scottish nationalist?

In any case, it's not just national communties you reject, you have done the same with disabilty and sexuality, despite there being no geographical "base" to them

Swing and a miss again. You clearly have a concern/paranoia over being labelled racist, which is what I was getting at.

Sean Connery is many things, a true Scottish nationalist is not one of them, the tax doging old duffer.

I reject all communities, i don't reject Scots in scotland feeling nationalistic though.

i have no fear or paranoia being labelled racist, i just don't like people implying (which your first comment did) that i am when I've posted nothing racist.

It may be your middle class, white community guilt and paranoia which has you seeing racism everywhere.

But scottish nationalism is clearly a community.

So you have no paranoia about being labelled racist, except when you think someone is labelling you racist?

Again, you brought up the issue of racism, not me.
I [agree/disagree] with your assessment because you [praised/insulted] a [team/person] that I [support/loathe]. Furthermore, I [admire/ridicule] your writing based on the previous statement, and not on the merit of what was actually written.

We're going round in circles, again.

I don't see Scottish, nationalist or otherwise as any sort of community, if you do, fair enough.

You implied I was racist, I wasn't and called you on it. No hint of paranoia from me, honest.

Indeed, I'm delighted I've dragged this over a week by oicking you up on some Celtic fan fishing.

What does otherwise mean, out of interest?

The whole thing is a bit paranoid - "How long would a white community last?" isn't a statement i would immediately peg as racist out of context, I just found it was interesting that you introduced the idea whilst discussing Scottish nationalism, but it certainly smacks of the "hard done by middle class male WASP thinking.", which in itself is almost a paranoia of "you can't say this without being deemed racist"

:P

Otherweise refers to those heathen Scots who are unionist as supposed to nationalist. They're still part of the Scottish community. ;)

I'll bloody middle class you.

Never mind Anglo Saxon and Protestant.

i would define scottish unionists and nationalists as two distinct groups within Scotland, and then you have sub groupings from there - civic and ethnic nationalists, funadamentalists and pluralists...it must be a nightmare for you.

So there is no such thing as a "Scottish community"

Thanks for finally agreeing.

I'm taking the moral victory here. :D

Oh no no no, There is a Scottish community, and within that a scottish nationalist community, and within that a civic nationalist community, and within that a gradualist community....

Yes yes yes.

There will be people who share similar views etc, but that does not make them a community.

I have fuckall else in common with xbl or Swampy.

You don;t have to have everything in common with everyone else in your community to be part of it though.

this is a fact you acknowledged with your "how many communties are you a part of?" thread.

I think you're delibrately missing the point of that thread.

If everyone is so different, they're hardly a community are they?

No the beauty of that thread was that your attempt to be sarky and ridiculous was actually a spot on analysis

But they don;t have to be the same. I mean - Motherwell is a community, it;s not full of the same person.

I can't help if I'm a naturally sarky bastart.

Motherwell is a town.

So you're finally coming round to my argument of one big world community, not seperating people into sub communities based on skin colour or sexual orientation.

Not before time Mr S, but I'm glad I've finally convinced you.
