Wright cup final. Linton 0 - 2 Ancrum. Heavy conditions, 2 teams battled hard with the crum coming away with the win. Well done to them
LR were playing duns in Peebles as well. Caught last 20 mins. LR won 6-0 (going on about 20 after missing a hat full of chances)
Heavy parks today but credit to the lads helping out to get the games on

i agree, after watching kelso yesterday they were absolute awful, need a decent striker that is prepared to take there chances n altho the weather didnt help they still cant pass the ball to feet
,but they have a lot of guid young laddies n a few guid experienced boys so hopefully they will learn n take it on till next season!!

so it's the strikers that have scored most of the teams goals bar bevs goals fault? not the teams fault? in any of the games it has been a case of the team has played well as a whole and we have won as a team or been beat because the whole team hasn't played well we have never once looked around the changing room picking on slip ups at the back or missed chances, always the teams performance in general! we will bounce back to form we started with! o and I agree winaukee we have matched you in both games scored all your goals in our first meeting, uz deserve ur place at the top tho consistency, good luck this season

now now wrighty calm down ha,if kelso had a decent striker yesterday, they could have been 4 or 5 up before you came on,i never said it was anyones fault, before u came we had 3 good balls into the box but there was no striker there to poke the ball home,n unfortunately in football its goals that win you games regardless if the team play good or bad!!

I never seen any of the chances was still working, never heard any mention of it after the game either, still we shouldn't b beating a team 8-2 then drawing with them! could say we shd have scored with the pen ( but I cah really say that lol) and had another Hoggy poleaxed near the end by the keeper

the laddie got it on target n the keeper pulled off a guid save n regarding the 3 chances they all came from bozzys runs who had there left back on toast in first 20 mins but nobody there to put the ball in the net!!

West Barns 8 Hawick Legion 0! Terrible performance in terrible conditions! Played up hill against the wind in the hope of gaining an advantage with the elements in the second half. However due to naive defending, we found ourselves 6 nil down at half time! Much was hoped for the second half, however apart from 3 or 4 shots on goal we never looked like scoring. West Barns played the far better and seemed to adapt to the conditions better than we did. They went on to score 2 further goals in the 2nd half and the scoreline in no way flattered them, in fact if it hadn't been for our keeper the score could have been a lot worse!!!

WINTON 1 CFCBOWHOLM 3
BOWHOLM won an enthralling game at prestonpans, played in very windy conditions on a pitch that was excellent ,both teams were giving everything in the first period but Bowholm again were clynical in front of goal without really being trouble at the back and went in at the break 2-0 up the second half had barely got underway when Bowholm went 3 up ,and with the damage done they naturally dropped deeper as the game went on Winton are a good side and play some good attacking stuff and they got rewarded with a well taken goal with about half an hour to go,Winton applied immense pressure in the latter stages and Bowholm were thankful to their keeper on two or three occasions but they dug deep and seen the rest of the game out to claim a very valuable three points in their quest to get out of the C Division

Good post and analysis. Winton lost two very sloppy goals and didn't settle with the wind as well as Bowholm did in the first half.
The goals were certainly avoidable and on both occasions the Winton defence was far too high up the park. However in the second half the possession and attacking play from the home team was much better and with a little more luck and composure in front of goal it may have been a very exciting end to the game.
Credit to Bowholm as they are very well organised at the back and gave little away, their keeper had two or three magnificent saves at crucial points in the game too. Unfortunately the wind really did spoil what could have been a decent game to watch.
Cautious but never afraid. @WintonAms
