Four Dunfermline fans have been arrested over racial chanting at their team's game against Celtic in Glasgow on Wednesday night.
The men, aged 22, 20 and two 19-year-olds, were arrested in Dunfermline following a joint operation by Fife Constabulary and Strathclyde Police.
They are expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
The officers from Strathclyde Police were part of the newly-formed Football Co-ordination Unit for Scotland.
The four men were arrested following an incident during the game at Celtic Park, where it is alleged a small group of Dunfermline fans were involved in chanting racial comments towards the home support.
Sup David Brand, a member of the new football co-ordination unit, said: "This operation again demonstrates the close working partnership between the new national unit and Scottish forces to eradicate sectarian, racial or offensive songs at football matches across Scotland.
"It also sends a clear message to offenders that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated and through post-investigations, we will attempt to identify and arrest those responsible.
"We will continue working in close liaison with our colleagues across Scotland to crack down on those minority fans that are intent in engaging in this type of behaviour."
Dunfermline Athletic FC's safety officer, Kenny Arnott, added: "We have been working with the police to stamp out this kind of behaviour, we fully support actions to prevent and detect those involved.
"Dunfermline is a family-friendly club and we welcome actions which will improve the experience for people attending football games."

This is not the first time they have had supporters arrested over Racist chants this season.
I also read an article stating Aberdeen is the Racist capital of Scotland. Looks like Racism is an East Of Scotland problem

4 MEN HAD A DREAM. TO START A FOOTBALL TEAM,
THEY HAD NO MONEY,NO KITS NOT EVEN A BALL.
THEY STILL CARRIED ON, THE RANGERS WERE BORN,
AFTER 54 TITLES, WE'RE STILL GOING STRONG.

Recent issues prior to a Dunfermline v Hearts meant British Transport Police were looking for up to 40 Hearts fans for similar stuff. Methinks you could be right.
Hey, wait a minute, I'm from the East Coast.

Yup, i feel Dunfermline are just trying to find a niche for unsavouryness.
I feel sorry for the very few decent Pars fans, they have been through the mill so far this season.

Couldn't have been, it clearly says 'racial chanting'.

Do you think it might have been 'You bunch of pathetic plastic Paddys'?
That wouldn't be very nice.

I suppose we should congratulate the police for their actions, racism should never be acceptable. I do wonder what form this racism took place, but I suppose that's not really going to make the offence any different.
What I would like to see though is an entirely even handed approach here so that the known problem of terrorist chants within the Celtic support are also treated in the same manner as these Dunfermline fans.

There's clearly been a misunderstanding
They weren't racist chants, they were folk chants.

Where does it end with these Dunfermline fans ?
Since they've came up they've embarrassed themselves and the league on several occasions. Some action must be taken, perhaps a couple of their home games played behind closed doors ?
I know they have been out of the league for a few years, perhaps it was tolerated in the SFL?
Not here, this league is broadcast live around the world. We have moved into the 21st century.
Dunfermline fans must do the same for the duration of their tenure here at least, no matter how short it is.
What a pity they haven't already.

I thought that was the point of the new legislation? To cover all offensive chanting rather than just racist or sectarian chanting.

Sorry, was that question aimed at me? You should really consider using the quote function, saves confusion.
Considering it was a rearranged game on a cold and wet Wednesday night i would imagine that the vast majority of fans in attendance were Scots. Is it racist to sing to a Scot waving a tricolour, in Scotland, 'You're in the wrong country'?
If you're leading to the famine song and pigeonholing all Celtic fans together i'd like to add i've never had a problem with that either,

So the small visiting support was targeted while the home support continued to sing their filth? Typical.

Yet it was Strathclyde Police last night? We have plenty of bampots within our support too, I've never heard any of them be racist though.
