Was reading the Sun today (nothing else to read at work) and saw Danny Lennon talking about one day possibly becoming Northern Ireland manager. Currently Cowden started the managerial careers of 2 international bosses currently - Craig Levien and Mixu Paatelainen.

Just wondering which other clubs have this claim to fame? Or are we the only club around to have such an effect on international football?

Quite a tough question to answer I guess....

He says "started the managerial careers".

We can take credit for Bobby Williamson (Uganda), but I think that's it. If the "started" bit is relaxed then Mixu would count for us too.

Not quite the same thing but on a similar vein, four Scotland managers have started their senior playing career at Queen's Park: Ian McColl, Bobby Brown, Alex Ferguson and Andy Roxburgh

Ipswich Town have provided the stepping stone for at least 3 international managers : Sir Alf Ramsay, Sir Bobby Robson and Sir George Burley!
In time of difficulties, we must not lose sight of our achievements

Ally McLeod had a single season as Queens manager and is the only one ever to have managed internationally and managed us and even he did it the other way round (he managed us after being an international manager).

In fact, very few Queens managers have even gone upwards in recent memory after leaving us. Billy McLaren in 1990 would be the last to leave to take on a job at least a division up and before him you'd need to go back to Willie McLean in 1974 I think. We've not exactly been a breeding ground for top managers! John Connolly and Gordon Chisholm both left us for perceived bigger jobs but they were in the same division and it went pear shaped for both very quickly.

Bobby Brown and Willie Ormond both started their managerial careers at Saints before becoming Scotland managers so St.Johnstone can at least match the record
