Today I took in the Greenlaw against chirnside colts game which was reversed to chirnside due to Greenlaws new pitch. The game was all in all pretty poor in my opinion and both teams not playing much in the way of good football. Anyhow, Greenlaw took the lead within 10 minutes before chirnside grabbed 2 goals back before half time. 2.1 chirnside ht. Second half carried on the same
As the first, not a great lot in the way of football, this mostly due to the fact the chirnside boys were only conserned with a kicking game, challenges flying in left right and centre on a young Greenlaw team. The ref Keith wallace should have stepped in at this point and took the game under control but he failed to due to the abuse frm a a big crowd on the chirnside touchhole constantly putting him under pressure. The terrible 'leg breaking' 'studs up challenges' continued until most about 15 mins to go when one Greenlaw player was sythed down in the chirnside box from behind, an obvious penalty and his pain for all to see, the ref waved play on the ball cleared up the park only for a Greenlaw player, big centre half waddle, to take a touch and get absolutely nailed. Leg broken game abandoned. Apparently it was a 50/50?? Non the less this was coming. Now I'm not one to call border amature refs and I'm not going to as I know they do ther best and I have the utmost respect for them, but it should be kept in mind tht Keith is from chirnside so shud never ref them!! Further to this id like to remind refs that dishing out the odd card for a bad tackle stops this sort of thing happening because at the end of the day, everyone of the players on the park have work to go to on a Monday!!!!! Just like to wish graeme waddell a speedy recovery

The shinpad of the other player was snapped in 2.
A really nice lad, here's hoping for a speedy recovery.

seemed to be the order of the day, go for the ball, if you dont get the ball make sure you get the man!! there was a tackle 10 mins before the leg break which was a studs up challenge that itself should have been a straight red but ref didnt see it because 'the sun was in his eyes'! and as for the penalty incident dont think ive seen a more stonewall pen!! wishing waddell best wishes and a quick return

I think in the circumstances BOTH clubs should take time out before posting. Nobody involved with football wants to hear of a bad injury. But beware of posting reports which cause long term damage. Good luck to the injured player but to come on here stating players are out to cause injury is a rash statement. Take time out before you accuse anyone of deliberately making(apologies dogdy reception) a challenge which might not only cause injury but break a leg is way out of order. I cannot believe for one minute that any amateur player would do that. As an add on why name the ref? Cheap shot at a ref doing his job. Geography is irrelavant he is a BAFA appointed ref regardless, if he was from Gala or elsewhere would that make a difference to what happened?

Well said.
Note to add: Don't think there are any Colts posters, so you won't get any replies to the above.
The lad involved in the incident is a close pal of mine, and is just back after 5 months out following a troublesome broken toe, and to say he is devastated is an understatement regarding the injury to GW.
There were 13 mins to go, and if the game has to be replayed then I'm sure there won't be any complaints from the Chirnside Colts lads.

For a start I would like to point out that I am not really involved with Greenlaw just have a connection to the club so this isn't their personal opinion. I am also not having a cheap shot at the ref, I know Keith and he's a great guy, just feel that refing a game in which a lot of the players are his neighbours, friends, people he sees in the pub ect. It puts him under much more pressure. So yeah if it was gala ref I think it would make a huge difference.
Yeah the lad I'm sure is because nobody wants that

I played against Chirnside Colts last week and how they only finished with 10 men was down to the performance of Keith Wallace. The man runs in a little cicle in the middle of the field, does not keep up with play, and in general is not fit to run a game any more. How a player swinging punches can only receive a yellow card beggars belief in my humble opinion

Have been asked to pass on the well wishes of all at Leithen Rovers, where Graeme enjoyed 2 successful seasons in the youth set-up, and wish him a speedy recovery. Echoing my earlier personal thoughts, all the best in your recovery from everyone at LR mate.

Although nobody from Chirnside has come on here and wished Graeme all the best i have been infromed that their chairman has been in touch with Graemes father and they intend to contact him again to check on how Graeme is doing.
I don't know Graeme personally but you never like to hear of anyone getting a serious injury like this so hopefully he'll recover from this and be back playing next year.

no havin a dig . Was just stating that the club were in touch and all players management and comitee members wer al wishing him the very best......an geogers wind ur neck in...if u want t moan about the ref go to the league an do so...an as for tackles go the one ur lad did that caused the mass brawl was among the worst iv seem. Its amateur football an not one of the players involved goes out to break legs an for people to come on an claim teams were set out to kick anything above grass height is a disgrace and they should be ashamed of themselves
