POTTS Cup 2nd round

Heston Rovers v Threave Rovers - Rpeat of last weeks fixture, will hopefully be on as there hasn't been much rain. Should be a Threave victory once again but they may play some fringe players as it's the cup which could have an outcome on the result.

SOUTH of SCOTLAND LEAGUE (ko2pm unless stated)

Crichton v Abbey Vale- Anyones game here. Crichton may have found their form and cruise to victory or Vale may continue to impress and climb the table with 3pts.

Dalbeattie Star v Creetown- Only one winner here. Hat will be eaten otherwise.

Fleet Star v St Cuthbert Wanderers- Again, only one winner. Hat should be as safe as houses.

Nithsdale Wanderers v Newton Stewart- Could be a great game with goals goals goals. Both teams well up there in the league battling for the final champions league spot and either of them would love the 3pts. Potentially very defensive as the teams won't want to give anything away. Either way, should be well contested.

Wigtown v Mid Annandale- Wigtown screaming out for another league win to move up the table, Mids looking for points to put pressure on Nithsdale in 4th. Going put my neck on the line and predict a very rash 4-4. We shall see...

Comments and opinions always welcome. Fire away folks...

POTTS Cup 2nd round

Heston Rovers P-P Threave Rovers

SOUTH of SCOTLAND LEAGUE

Crichton P-P Abbey Vale

Dalbeattie Star 6 Creetown 1

Fleet Star 4 St Cuthbert Wanderers 6

Nithsdale Wanderers 2 Newton Stewart 7

Wigtown 3 Mid Annandale 4

Good to see the hat safe...just! Excellent effort from Fleet to give saints one hell of a scare. Looks like the rash 4-4 prediction in the Wigtown-Mids game wasn't far of at all!
Roll on next week...

Michael Houston is the lads' name, and he's had a few appearances. He's acquited himself well whenever he's come off the bench and if he keeps his head down and keeps working hard, there's no reason why he can't become a right good SOSL player. Local boy too, so those who say that Saints aren't interested in local boys take note.

I've heard that both the Fleet Star right back (sorry for not knowing his name) and Davie McKie suffered bad injuries yesterday, and if that is the case then that's terrible news and I hope they can have a speedy recovery. To be completely honest, had they both finished the game yesterday then Fleet Star might well have got at least a point as both were central to what was an excellent performance. Saints got lucky yesterday and Barry has every reason to feel his team didn't get what they deserved. He's done a pretty decent job all in all since he took over, helped by a lot of good people working bloody hard behind the scenes.

Houston boy will probably end up ay Threave then like the rest o the KBT boys, considering its a fishing town there has been a lot of local talent slipped through the net in the past ;)

Surely he's not the first 14 year old boy to play Southern Counties!
The boy goes to training, turns up on Saturdays and to be honest desreves to get a run out every now and then, I'm sure there will be a few clubs that has youngsters that go to their training that would love to get a chance.

Well done to Saints for developing young talent. The boy must be a decent standard to be put on in a league game and this must surely be a reflexion on the coaching staff at Saints. If you're good enough, your old enough. Other South of Scotland League teams should follow Saints example. As for ending up at Threave, I know the boy and his family. He is very happy at Saints having come through their youth ranks. Saints look after their players, why move if your happy ?
