Having passed Glenboig Juniors Carrick Park today, i was wondering what other grounds are still in existence although the Junior team has folded, I know of Bonnybridge and Duntocher Hibs, but there must be many more.

One of the defunct Dundee teams grounds (Stobswell?) is still used by an amateur team as far as I recall. Shawfield Juniors' Rosebery Park although derelict survived until recently, when it was demolished to make way for the M74 extension.

I played there with Lanarkshire Schools team and it was indeed, a good wee park. I was always surprised how few folk knew of it's existence.

I'm sure it turned out the land was contaminated by old chemical works in the area - the last time I passed by Rosebery it was locked down tight with warning signs everywhere. Given people had been playing football on it for decades, I think if there had been any damage to be done, it already had been by then!

I remember it as being across the road from Shawfield and in behind the tenements. I haven't been down that way for a while so I suppose the tenements must be away too . :(

Sounds like the pitch was in the oatlands area .That area really has been transformed loads of old flats have been pulled down and loads of new flats were built on wasteland to, there is a whole new road set up with M77 being so close by .

OP mentions glenboig I remember playing youth football there and was intrigued even then at the the history of the ground, these places really do ooze history . Amazing how many wee grounds like that are dotted around .

Another wee one has a junior team played at ravenswood ?

The club I used to play for played at a public park in Halbeath, wasn't till years later I found out it used to be the home of a junior club called "Halbeath" I fail to see how 1700 watched a game there against Auchinleck Talbot once, It's just a park with no signs of there ever being a shelter?

Dunfermline Jubilee Athletic played at Pitravie Athletics stadium which is still there.

Aye, Good luck in life.

Ardeer Thistle who now play at Ardeer Stadium the former home of the now defunct Ardeer Recreation FC,their original home was Ardchoille Park, which I think is still there and played on by the local amateurs.

I was at that game v Auchinleck - me and 1699 others in the wind and pouring rain - there was a small wooden shelter up on the terraced area, but it was full to the gunells.

Prior to that the club played at Inverkeithing and at one stage shared Central park Cowdenbeath!

It had been lying empty for about 20 years I would think due to the land being contaminated. It's not the new M74 that runs over it, but rather the new road which runs from Shawfield to the new junction with the realigned Polmadie Road.

I saw Petershill play once at Glenboig in the early 1980's, and on the one occasion that we were drawn away to Tulliallan the match was played at Oakley.
