And the rest!! Touchwiz is your enemy!
Any phone with manufacturers' skins and carrier branding on top will have to wait a good while. You won't see it on an S2 for 4 months at least. Remember, 4.0 is a big jump - the OEM's need to figure out how to adapt this to meet their own needs.
The Nexus S will be the first of the older phones to get it, probably before Christmas too. I'll tell you what it's like
In fact, thinking about it, there will probably be a Samsung Galaxy S3 running ICS before it's pushed to the S2
Well, as promised I
manually updated my Nexus S to 4.0.3 IceCreamSandwich y'day
It takes a bit of getting used to; there's a lot more logical side swiping and the blue theme is cool, I mean REALLY cool. Startup screen is a riot of colour, and the camera much better and panorama effect means you don't require a 3rd party app for that. Lockscreen shortcut to camera is an improvement too. Contacts screen isn't displaying facebook pictures - I haven't found how to do that yet. GMail user interface has been made clearer and the notification bar is partially see-through (opaque?) System icons have been modified too.
One of the best things is you can actually see pictures of all the available downloaded widgets for your homescreens before you select so no more blindly picking a widget then finding its no good when it lands on the screen! Widgets are resizeable and the app drawer at the bottom is simple to change app shortcuts however you want.
The whole process of scrolling through homescreens and within OS settings seems a lot smoother, I guess as a result of the hardware acceleration (though this still cannot improve the seriously shite laggy android facebook app.
Minus points; NO facial recognition, hard to get used to swiping to the side thru apps instead of down, and Google shortcut bar takes up space at top of every homescreen. There's no soft keys show up either - obviously on phones other than Galaxy Nexus there are hard keys at the bottom that do the job.
Overall it feels like a whole new phone in my hand. Excellent stuff!
