I think you'll find that the Note is the top Android phone, in terms of technical specs 8) Although, it cant compete with a 1.5Ghz quad core :o

I think you'll find the Galaxy Note is a 'phablet'.

f**k off HTC, my Sensation XE just arrived today and you've went and done that? Gits.

I think I love it, though. It's my first smartphone, and it's not as hard to use as I feared. Very impressed so far.

The e-chat forum won't be so impressed when I return here to ask piles of stupid questions, however.

Dunfermline boss Jim McIntyre must be at a loss to explain the succession of goalkeeping howlers he's witnessed from the frazzled Pars this season. I'm picturing a scene akin to Basil Fawlty whacking his car repeatedly with a branch after deciding "enough is enough!"

Ooft, I'm hanging about for a One then! Looked at the preview video and it looks banging.

Seen it Priced up at £31 per month (24 month contact) on TMobile. Seems very reasonable.

The HTC One X looks absolutely stunning.

I'm surprised to see that Samsung haven't announced a new Galaxy S3 at the MWC (or it looks like they're not going to), although I do vaguely remember reading somewhere them saying that would announce it seperately later on in March.

I love this time of year for phones. Geek alert! :D

S3 specs are leaked all over the place. Built from ceramic apparently.

I know about the leaks, I'm just surprised they haven't announced anything officially at MWC. Like I say though, I've a vague recollection that they're announcing it at the end of March.

I'm due an upgrade from my Galaxy S (which is becoming more and more buggy and slow) in November - loving the look of the HTC One X.

Think I might be walking past the Note trying desperately not to look directly at it.

So I got impatient and flashed ICS onto my S2 last night. I think my "few weeks" prediction was a little out :P

First impressions - one or two useful tools (such as data limits and face unlock), but not actually that different.

The thing I've been looking for for months is a way to permanently turn off noise cancellation without flashing a modded OS. I've got one of the dodgy batch that echo with a case on to the person on the other end of the line, and its a pain in the arse turning it off manually each time.

HTC have announced three new ICS mobiles: One X, One S and One V.

http://www.gsmarena....c-news-3892.php

One X has a 1.5GHz quad-core processor and should rival the Samsung Galaxy II / Nexus as the top Android phone when it comes out in April. Maybe worth waiting for if you're changing your phone soon...

Anyone picked up an HTC One X or S yet? I'm due an upgrade at the start of next month. Can't make my mind-up...

...if the X is too big?

...if I could live with the S's 16GB memory

...whether to be concerned about the reports of poor battery life (and no removable battery).

I love phone upgrade time!

I absolutely love the look of the One X, not due an upgrade for a good few months, but why won't they release a real top notch physical keyboard phone? I absolutely adore my Desire Z, I love the keyboard, and I have no desire to go back to a soft keyboard again. Physical keyboards are just better imo. If I could basically have the Desire Z, but pimped to the max with quad core, I would be delighted...

I'm with you. I've got a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini pro and my preference would be for another Android phone with a physical keyboard but it doesn't seem to be an option any of the major manufacturers are pursuing.

Considering the Blackberry Bold 9900 but I know in the back of my mind it would be a mistake (certainly on a two-year contract). With RIM on their knees, surely there is an opportunity there?

I prefer the form factor (same as the Xperia), of the big screen and the sliding keyboard, but I'd even contemplate using the general blackberry form factor if only it had Android! Blackberry phones in my view don't have the power and flexibility, and are hamstrung by their OS. I guess its what makes them distinct, and I know people that swear by them, but it doesn't fit my needs. I quite like the look of the Torch 9810, but again, its not really got the power I want, so I don't see why I'd upgrade. I suspect you might find the Bold to be a mistake...

Phone upgrade time for me is like first day of the fitba' season! Sadly I'm about a year away, but it doesn't stop me salivating at the thought of some of these beauties. Also, my wife is about two months away, and she can't wait to get rid of her original Wildfire.

I had a play with the One X in CW yesterday. It is an achingly lovely piece of kit. The casing seems strong but incredibly light, and the screen is gorgeous. Have to say though, I'm with you - I'm never quite taken with phones that don't have expandable memory ( I like the feeling of having something backed up on a card, and I'm still enough of a technophobe to not be convinced by "the cloud", so the 25GB DRopbox storage doesn't appeal), and I'm also not overly happy with the non removable battery. On a brand new phone it shouldn't really be a problem, but my Galaxy S is starting to get a bit tired, and I'm having to remove the battery to reset the f***ing thing more and more.

Also had a wee shot of the Galaxy Note yesterday. The wife saw the advert for it and said that she liked the look of it, so she had a wee shot too. It is absolutely fantastic.

No. Theres a leaked ROM kicking about and I thought about installing it, but the stock ROM has been great so far - really fast and incredibly stable - and I'd have to do a clean install to go to ICS. I cant really be bothered, just to find out it isnt that great.

The official update to ICS shouldnt be that far away anyway :)

That's good to know - I'm always wonderign whether to root my phone, I daresay in the case of my current one it would be a good move.

And the aforementioned S Pen - is it any good? Do you use it at all?

I've rooted my phone, just not installed a custom ROM. I had to go with custom ROMs on my old Dell Streak, because the stock one was awful and Dell werent interested in issuing updates. Hopefully, Samsung will support the Note a little better!

I have to say I dont use the pen a lot. I havent even really tried the drawing apps, to be honest. It is really, really useful for selecting text to copy and paste. I tried the handwriting recognition and it wasnt that great. But I think part of that was because Ive put quite a substantial screen protector on and I think its interfering with the pen a bit, meaning I have to put too much pressure on the screen to get it to register.
