I believe Darren Mackie made his 300th SPL appearance at the weekend.

I was wondering if anyone has a full list of players who have made over 300 appearances in the SPL, since the breakaway in 1998/99.

At the moment, I have the following:

Scott Severin - 347
Steven Hammell - 342
James Fowler - 341
Stephen Craigan - 335
Garry Hay - 319
Steven Pressley - 305
Darren Mackie - 300

Are there any others that I've missed?

Hartley must be close but I reckon just below. Can't believe Mackie has 300!

There must be a keeper??

Edit: flicking through goalkeepers Colin Meldrum only played 108 games in his career?!? Cowdenbeath have 21/22 year olds that have made that number for us.

I seem to recall Colin Meldrum spent the vast majority of his Kilmarnock career as second choice goalkeeper. It's really annoying me that I can't remember who the first choice would have been for much of this time, can anyone help out?

Bobby Geddes, Dragoje Lekovic and Gordon Marshall. After Marshall left, he finally got his chance as number one, at the age of 27, before we fairly quickly realised he wasn't very good and shipped him out to be replaced by Alan Combe.

Very close - 296 games. 153 for Killie, and 143 for Rangers.

I presume he'll get there one day.

No chance. Guaranteed to finish off his career at Clyde...
The score remains 4-1 and counting...

Out of interest what goalkeeper has the most SPL appearances then? McGregor/Douglas/Langfield will all be 200+.

I think he'll play for Killie again before he retires. And possibly Rangers sooner than that.

Jamie Langfield - 230
Gordon Marshall - 214
Stefan Klos - 208
Allan McGregor - 205
Robert Douglas - 191

Not necessarily a complete list, because I could have missed someone.

Cheers gents! Gordon Marshall was the keeper I'd had in mind as the man Meldrum deputised to for a fair chunk of his spell at the club!

Closest Hibs ones I can see are

Ian Murray 291 including his appearances for the dark side
Steven Whittaker 275 including his appearances for the dark side
Derek Riordan 249 including his appearances for the dark side

Cheers. So Murray and Whittaker can probably both expect to join the "300 club" this season.

Hammell will equal Severin's record when he plays against Dundee Utd next Saturday.

How many SPL appearances did Barry Ferguson make either side of his first move down south?

Does it?

I thought it proved that the mediocre to good players are most likely to be the ones who break appearance records, because the better players have all moved to England to make money.

Stevie Hammell spent some time down in England with Southend where he made 55 league appearances before he came back to Motherwell. He'd probably be well clear of Severin's record he hadn't had that spell down south. He's still in his 20's (just, 29) and as good as ever so he could go on and add another 100 appearances without too many problems.

The match past against Celtic was his 400th overall for Motherwell.

St Johnstone have only played 238 SPL games, so none of your guys will be anywhere near that unless they've played for other clubs.

Main played 124 SPL matches - 109 for Saints and 15 for Livingston.

Steven Hammell was due to make a record 348th appearance tonight, but the abandonment of the Motherwell-Hibs game means his 45 minutes on the pitch won't count.

That means that James Fowler can join him and Scott Severin on 347 if he plays for Killie tomorrow.
