Noticed on the EOS website that Crichton are due to play Heston on Saturday (15th Oct) but according to their results page Wigtown won on pens. Could somebody please confirm who actually won?

Hasn't that game got to be replayed?
I think the ref went straight to penalties but the Crichton were adamant it should have gone to extra time first and complained (rightly so if that should have been the case).

I was at the game and at the time, match official and both teams were happy to go straight to penalties..... the park at the time would also have struggled to cope with the extra 30 mins off football as was turnin into a bit of a gitter hole, also am sure crichton until our manager MICKEY DOUGAN saved a penalty were more than happy with it at the time due to him not even being a KEEPER. just ur typical case off sour grapes really. Latest a heard was the league were wanting us to replay it, but we thought if it means that much to the moanin f**ks just give them the tie

Aye i'm quite sure if they'd won on penalties not much would have been said.
I didnt realise you just gave them the tie though

Not 100% sure if we have or not yet as not spoken to any the commitee in past few days but that was the general talk after we received info that it would have to be replayed m8. sayin that it looks that were the outcome as their pencilled in to play next round this weekend. Bit strange really for our club to give any team a bye if this is the case, cannot see the players being happy after digging in to get a really good result with only 1 sub avaliable to go on and mickey in goals the team worked hard in that game

I thought you's were maybe saving yourselves for the potential wigtown v abbey vale semi final once Saints get pumped out that cup.

Haven't heard yet what is going on with that game yet, haha saints were coasting at the time against us too, but by all acounts the league will have to stand by the referee which would mean us going through.
Looking forward to the semi final against use already

gives both teams a big incentive should saints get chucked out

Its with the SFA & i think a decisions to be made either today or tomorrow. We'll find out soon enough.
Massive incentive, i'd say if more so for Abbey Vale, long time since we we're in a cup final.

sooner the better. just found out that we have given crichton the bye into next round for sure and also on the letter from the SFA it were a un-named team from within the league that made the complaint about the match going straight to penalties, was not crichton.
Yes thats true, a can remember being down at abbey vale 5-6 years ago when we played use in a final down there

Can I ask why Wigtown, going by posts above, just conceded it...? South Challenge Cup is for many clubs the biggest cup they enter/can realistically win, potential to face different sides from other leagues, etc.

I for 1 totally agree with you in the fact of it being on of the biggest and best cups to be in, only the south league cup will be bigger, and also as you mention is 1 in which ur in with a chance o a fresh change if you progress on to play east opposition. A really cannot explain why although my theory will have to be its a cup you can run up a fair bit of expense with more travellin involved shall ur team go further in the competition

Cheers. There's travel subsidies, btw, for QF > SF > Final, so apart from a trip to Glasgow Uni there can never be any journey costs beyond normal 'domestic' levels. Shame Wigtown scratched it looks like, but each-to-their-own ultimately.
Of course, since there are fewer sides in the South-&-West section of the tournament, the 4 winners of this weekend's ties reach the all-in QFs. Threave-Gretna looks like tie-of-the-round?

Threave v Gretna will be a good game yes. No doubt tie of the round. I expect Threave to edge it though.
Special 1 - I've been informed theres a meeting today at the SFA to discuss whats to happen to saints.

Saints got a 12month suspended fine of.......wait for it.
£100.
Thats is all, its upto the league whether they stay in the competition.

At the end of the tie there was definately a bit of a mix up Crichton wanted extra time to try and make ammends for a poor performance against an understrength Wigtown Mickey wanted pens cos he was goin to work and the ref just wanted to get back to Motherwell to see the x-factor ! He never seemed too enthusiastic from the start perhaps he was a bit peeved bein sent to the backwaters as we were told he was a grade 1 ref who had been knocked down the ladder.

It'll be interesting to see what the league decides to do. I'm not going to get into a debate as to the rights and wrongs of the decisions made by the referee in charge, Saints or the SFA. However, the punishment given to Saints by the SFA would, in my mind, point towards them (The SFA) siding with the club rather than the match official(s).
I would like to think that a line can now be drawn under the whole episode and we can get on with talking about the games.
Edit for bad spelling.

Ah well, suppose a were hoping for to much on the SFA outcome, however a hope the league stands by the match official, and gives us a sneaky wee bye.... Was at that game also thought it were a over the top reaction for the match to be abondoned just really what u hear in every other game being played but ad take it
