~~~ Posted October 6, 2011 Share Posted October 6, 2011 So far he's got a hat trick for the U21's (game not finished) Don't want to hype the lad up too much, but he's looking a great prospect, hopefully he'll keep progressing with Huddersfield. Widge Posted October 6, 2011 Share Posted October 6, 2011 39 goals in 92 games for Huddersfield, at his age and not all starts is a great record. 6 in 5 for the under 21's as well I think. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Michael W Posted October 6, 2011 Share Posted October 6, 2011 Great record, but I'd wait until he at least makes the Championship before getting him in the full squad. League One isn't of a standard that merits international call ups. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
League One isn't of a standard that merits international call ups. I see your point, but I don't really care what league a player plays in as long as he's good enough. Craig Mackail-Smith didn't suddenly go from rubbish to good on the day Peterbrough got promoted. If he continues to perform in the U21s against teams of a higher standard than Luxembourg, then that is probably every bit as important as his club form. That's fair, though I have reservations about players who can score against dross suddenly being good enough to make the full squad (a hat trick against Luxembourg doesn't really alter this view too much either) . I guess we don't really know until we try them. This debate also came up when Robert Snodgrass was apparently lightening up L1 with Leeds. There was a clamour for him to be included, and I couldn't understand it at all. Well, I could understand why the Stirling Albion fans wanted him in, but that's a different matter.
