Tomorrow at 11am. 3rd division teams come into this round. From a Threave point of view.... Annan at home please. Big crowd if that did happen. Wigtown v stranraer would be good aswell.

I wouldn't expect Threave to bring a huge support through.

I've seen both Auchinleck and Threave this season and with home advantage i'd make you slight favourites. Having said that Threave drew with Annan pre-season and deservedly beat us 3-2 the week after so they are no mugs.
The best team in the South League and with a very settled squad they are capable of springing a surprise... just ask Stenhousemuir.

Should be a cracking tie.

Oh aye and if it hadn't been for a late Stennie goal Stranraer would have also played Threave last season. Three of Stranraers last five cup draws have been against current or former SOSL sides. Stranraer also played Girvan a few seasons back. Is the draw made at Stair Park these days ?!

Should be a good cup tie, maybe Threave will bring 100 - 150 fans, with it being Talbot.
Great pitch, great stand and great set up at beechwood. There's a few ex Kello boys that played in the same team with kris doolan in Parker, bell, wilby and middlemiss. Ex glens player Liam Patterson aswell.

Well I always thought there was a gulf between the top Juniors and the SOSL and so it proved, 8-1 and to be honest should have been more as Talbot steamrollered a beleaguered Threave in the last twenty when they missed half a dozen clear chances. My surprise was the disparaging remarks made by some Threave fans about Talbot's level and their facilities. Having never been to Meadow Park I thought that they must have some set up to criticise Beechwood like that. However, having now spoken to people who have been at the ground it seems that the ground does not compare to Talbot's a bit like the teams. There still seems to be a less than enthusiastic opinion about Junior clubs being in the big Scottish from some quarters and seemed to be the opinion of some from Castle Douglas despite a contest which was a mismatch, this a bit disappointing as the Juniors have proved to be more than capable. In actual fact there should be more involved then there might actually be a genuine big upset in the later stages.

Southern Counties is on par with Ayrshire District League. Most of the teams are more or less Amateur, and the fact they are classed as Senior is not to be taken seriously.

You got them on an off day with gifting you the 3 early goals with very poor play then a clear off side for the 4th followed by an extremely soft sending off that would have your crowd wanting the refs head. As for your ground OK we pay £7 for the entry then you have the cheek to ask for more money to get into a stand. Can I call it a stand?. Now for the ground, must be the smallest pitch in scottish football with a concrete wall surrounding it. Went for a piss in the wall structure with no cover on it and had to make sure I stodd down hill or my urine would have ended up all over my shoes. What a tip!!!. Hope this is not one of the better juniour ground because it is way behind meadow park. So please those in glass houses as they say
In the end of the day you were worthy winners and best of luck in the next round.

I have to say the margin of this defeat (and also Wigtown at home to Third Division side Stranraer) deeply shocked me. I guessed Threave would lose, but thought it'd be close: the other 2 elite Juniors beat EOS sides which finished mid-table last season 0-1 and 2-1 respectively, and I had imagined Threave (as South champions and dominant performers) might land the same sort of scorline... 8-1 is an incredible outcome, similarly Wigtown's 0-9 capitulation. Very unexpected.

You should have a look at " anybody out there" posts on sosl. Threave have never a good word to say about anyone. Good goal from your keeper. Ha ha ha

Social club at Talbot must make them a fortune, something that any south team must look at having, if they want to make the step up. Nothing wrong with the ground, or the pitch. They only thing that was wrong..... Was that Talbot were better than Threave!!!!!!

8-1, an off day! I think the rest of your post will be treated with the same contempt as that utterly ridiculous statement. Wake up and smell the coffee mister blinkered man!

It didn't shock me HJ - although I would never have been daft enough to predict it before kick off. But it was always a possibility given our identical scoreline against St Cuthbert's last year (a team which consistently outperforms Wigtown in the SOS League) and our recent form. We also had a penalty saved and hit the woodwork. But it is cup football and we might have blown it, but the scoreline, whilst a pleasant one, didn't shock me.

The ridicule heaped by some on the South of Scotland League saddens me - these guys are playing football for enjoyment, they are - with the exception of some playing at Annan, Stranraer and Queens - the best in the area, and you can only play with what you've got.

At no point yesterday did Wigtown give up - they were still trying hard at the end - and I genuinely wish them all the best for the remainder of their season.

This must be the clown that was spouting we play anti-football. Anti football is when a teams stops the other side scoring by packing defences. If scoring 8 goals was anti football then I hate to have seen the scoreline if it was total football. As for the fourth goal the right back played McCann on. Your problem was the fact that you are too used to hammering sides that your defence is seldom tested. It was on Saturday and you didn't step up to the mark.

I hope engineer is better at engineering than football punditry.

8-1, an off day lol, now come on, be sensible, that is a horsing any way you look at it, and but for a couple of wonder saves and some wasteful finishing, it would have finished double figures.

As for the red card it was as stonewall as they come. Dunlingson's kick at Milliken reminded me of Rooney's recent red playing for England. It wasn't a late or mis-timed tackle, he just kicked out at the guy.

The vast majority of the Threave fans seemed like a decent bunch and from other posts, it seems a few enjoyed a few refreshments in the club before heading down the road, so I won't judge all Threave fans by the standards of one myopic and very sour loser.

As a Threave fan at the game on sat I heard the shouts of "anti-football" and remarks about the stand and toilets etc...

Anti-football have you sobered up yet!

As for the stand and toilets, what were you expecting? Because your associated with Threave rovers, that means you deserve the full red carpet treatment.

Lets be honest man for man we were easily beaten on Saturday and it was a very big wake up call(hopefully) for some of the players. It is only one game and not all doom and gloom, the boys will bounce back. Talbot are a fine club with a great set up, there social club is spot on and the home support is more than the entire south league's average attendance put together on a regular game day. Thought Sam Warren was our best player on the day
