Bottom line is guy's whoever wins it needs the luck of the draw both on the day and with getting a home draw. No doubt even the fancied sides who everyone has mentioned on here need the luck somewhere down the line. Last year, we WHSFPs managed to avoid the big guns so to speak ( ie everyone's predictions ) till we got to the last 16 when we faced Harestanes from our Premier Div. After that we got draws we probably would have picked and by that I mean no disrespect whatsoever to the sides we faced and beat as we just wanted to avoid the likes of Drum Utd and Colville Park as we knew they were top drawer as well as avoid them because they were in our Association and the longer it went on, the more chance there was of one of them knocking the other out of the competition at some point and so it proved. We could easily have been put out as early as the 2nd round against Strathaven where we struggled through 3-2 away from home and we got a winner in the final minutes when we would have been happy to take a replay back in Wishaw. These sides CAN be beat but it takes a lot of belief, hard graft and luck on the day to get anything from them. The whole experience last season was suberb and we look forward to it coming round again in a few weeks where we face Gibbshill at home in round 2. We know especially in the Scottish that every side we face will be looking to knock us out and no doubt Gibbshill will be right up for it. Hopefully we can put the experience we have gained from last season to good use and hopefully we can get another decent run. All the best to all the sides setting out on Scottish Cup duty this season.

Duckhook Dave, I'd get strung up if I gave any info out re ANY team in our Association. Not rocket science however that any side sitting in 3rd position in The CSAFL Premier Division is a decent outfit if indeed it is the Ashvale from the CSAFL that you've got. We've got Burntisland United away so a nice wee trip up the Fife coast in store for us.

Is that Burnisland shipyard?

We played Cupar Hearts from the same league last year. They were a good team.

It's not the Ashvale from your league we are playing.

Don't know if there also known as that but there down in the draw as Burntisland United. The Ashvale you'll be playing if not from our league, will be the side from the Greater Glasgow League. We played them at home 2 seasons ago in The West of Scotland Cup and beat them 12-1. Honestly can't remember much about them other than them being a tall side but going by the scoreline, that didn't go in their favour on the day LOL. All the best anyway mate.

Burntisland Shipyard (who also qualify for the Scottish Cup proper) are away to Braehead in the 3rd rd.
You play Burntisland Utd, whose league is here:

Ancrum were due to play Uddingston Anvil or Mount Vernon Juniors in the 3rd round last year but ended up getting a bye as both teams got kicked out. The ref had to abandon the game for fighting (apparently even people on the touchline were getting involved in it).

Good luck to all the Border teams still in the competition.

Got you work cut out KK but I'm sure you lads will do the Border Am proud.

Definitely a winnable game through there but you'll need to be water tight at the back and take what few chances you get or you'll get crucified. Had we been better defensively last year we might have taken a draw or a win but they took their chances and we didn't.

All the best

Cheers Eye Valley, had a quick look there. Burntisland Utd sitting mid table in Division 1. Not played as many games as some others in the division so a bit like us in that respect. We won't take them lightly and give them every respect. Thanks again.

Well there'll be no repeat of last years exploits for us, two shockingly bad decisions had us up against it but we all come across them from time to time , was just out turn to be on the wrong end of them!

there's always next year!

I have to laugh at these posts! The old phrase "if ur aunt had balls she'd be ur uncle" springs to mind.

I presume the same was true of the the Jordanhill Campus game - if you had been tight at the back and taken your chances you would have won?!?

In all seriousness though, i'm a big believer in the team that scores more goals deserves to win, regardless of how they perform on the day. If a team scores with their one and only chance and the other squanders 10 chances, do they not deserve to win for being more efficient in front of goal? Thats the joy of the scottish and other regional cup competitions, its not always the best team in the country or region that wins. It comes down to luck and taking chances when they are presented.
