I use steam so not really got a problem with it, although i do think it's a step too far in their battle against Piracy (which it will have absolutely no effect on anyway). My only worry is that if/when SI release a patch with lots of bugs in it, you wont be able to go back to a previous patch so have to wait it out until SI fix it.

Online activation has a significant effect on piracy - far more than offline activation. It'll particularly deter pirates early in the product's lifetime.

I'm thinking of buying it via steam this year rather than using the disc. I take it they just send you an e-mail link with a reference on the day of release?
Look at you. You're a slippery genius!

Buy it before hand have steam running when the game is released (or preload it) and it will download automatically

feckin awesome system tbh , really cant understand why some poeple are being whiny c***s about it tbh. Although it will be the same p***ks who wonder why it runs slow on their 10 yo PC once its released :D

Away from the steam stuff, anyone been reading the blogs? As someone who always spends a lot of time bringing through youngsters, the new youth team features sound brilliant.

It does sound like a good feature, I do like the thought of building my team completely from the ground up. Also like that if you are a struggling club you can ask to have it scrapped to save money.

What I really like is the way you can now say things in different emotions, there's a few screen shots on the Football Manager 2012 website showing an example of this and it looks like it could be very handy. Hopefully you'll never have a situation where you don't want to pick any of your choices duirng a team talk.

I haven't bought this close to the release date yet and always get it when its around £15. So, how much is it usually to get off Steam and how much is it usually to get from the shops?

I don't think it's so much piracy as it is to stop people just sharing disks (which it will stop). I'm a Steam lover too so I'm glad it's on Steam.

If you don't want it to automatically install patches for specific games;
  • right click the installed game
  • go to properties
  • updates
  • change to "do not automatically update this game"
Also, the cheapest site I have found so far is GreenManGaming where it's £19.16 after you apply the coupon ONLYO-NDIGI-TAL20. They'll send you a code to activate in Steam.

Steam is the way to go with regards to downloading the game. It's how I'll be getting the game [for free, I may add] and look forward to that day next month :D

Downloaded in less than one hour. I'll get fired into this later on.

Just had a wee peak at it there. The new layout is shit.

I cant be arsed with a new FM atm, I'm still going strong in 2o11 with the pentagon challenge, so I'll set myself a price at which I'll byu the new one and once it happens to drop below, it shall be purchsed, I think £18 is resonable.

It certainly doesn't look too good. They've got rid of the curves and made it more straight-edged - which I really don't like. They've changed some other things like what come up on the screens, but that will just take a while to get used to.
