South Challenge Cup 1st round

Creetown v Gretna 2008 - Tough Match for Creetown with Gretna probably coming out the stronger of the two.

Threave Rovers V Mid Annandale - Another 5-5 on the cards maybe? On paper though it should be Threave every day of the week.

Crichton V Wigtown - My opinion would be that this could be a close game but either of the two sides could take control and win the game easy.

Dalbeattie Star V St Cuthbert Wanderers - Should be a cracking match. Dalbeattie with home advantage will be slight favourites but you can never write off Saints.

Fleet Star V Heston Rovers - A match that Heston should win, but without an away win all season, it could be a tight one.

Nithsdale Wanderers V Abbey Vale - Both teams surprise packages at the moment with Abbey Vale going for 5 wins in a row and Nithsdale playing well above expectations so far this season. Could go either way.

South Of Scotland League

Newton Stewart V Stranraer

Another match that could easily go either way. Newton always a strong force at home but Stranraer, some weeks, are almost unpredictable

Yeh, good game from Stevie, defence was solid. Star keeper had at least two cracking saves.

1st half was a dull affair, 2nd half was alot better, the introduction of Liam changed the game for Saints

Good performance Saints

Heard that Nithsdale performed miricles to get game on, spent ages on pitch with brushes to get rid of surface water. Well done to them.

Its a shame other sos teams with better facilities cant put the effort in to try and get games played. A wee bit of rain and the games off.

Full credit to Nithsdale to get the game on, Both staff and players were on the park before hand with brushes and forks to get the park in a playable condition! Excellent effort.

I am afraid with Refs coming from the Central Belt the call on pitches has to be be made a bit earlier than if a Ref has only to travel from near at hand. There is no point in sweeping water off a pitch while it is pouring down.the weather in Dumfries & Galloway can be very different from town to town so don't knock the unpaid groundsman please!

Lol. Is it below them boys to sweep water off the pitch to get a game on or r they such primadonnas they dont like getting there hair wet. Just seems to be a regular occurance with certain teams with far better facilities than other teams

As a Threave fan i was naturally dissipointed by the game being called off. There was rain but when you see other side's getting games on it can be annoying, but to say that the threave are primadonnas is pretty harsh. I know for a fact the players would have been most annoyed for the call off as it means they will have a back log of games which could end up meaning playing 3 games a week which i would say is more a disadvantage.

I heard somebody left a tap running in King Street - that seems to be enough to get a game postponed at Meadow Park nowadays.
