GAME ABANDONED

Well I did try to warn the Saints supporters on here last week what would happen.

No ref no game

I hope you got your moneys worth as it was said and encouraged by some "you pay your money so can shout what you like"

Yip you paid your money. Got half a game and with all probabilities your club will be fined and kicked out of the cup,but then they did try to tell me last week that they are THE BIG BOYS.Good Value I would have thought NOT

It's funny how it was the same Ref that had Fans ejected from a game last week. Maybe someone should be questioning the Refs unusual stance towards paying spectators instead if pointing fingers at Saints fans.

Ok, THESPECTATOR, you where there, did you think the ref was right, can you enlighten me on what was said to the ref.

Both the ref and linesman missed a very bad challenge on Craig, what would you have said to the ref.

You have become the joke of P&B and nobody gives a flying f**k what you think

What was wrong with going to watch your team

Why should anybody be asked to leave. If the ref can't take the comments then he shouldn't be a referee. He should be paying attention to the game and not listening to the crowd. At least one Wigtown player was heard to say " get on with the game Colin, we are here to play football not gave a debate"

As a player in todays game i think the sensible thing to do would have been to call half time...(as it was only a minute away) then have a word with whoever it was. however the game was abandonned and has made the league a laughin stock again. you can hardly abandon an sfl game cos some supporter shouts something.should be no different at st marys!
Bigest regret was my two goals knocked off! rubbish haha

I was there today. This game was never going to go 90 minutes. The ref was booking players for fun as they were sliding all over the place on a pitch that was just playable due to the heavy rain. Most could hardly keep on their feet.Think he was wanting an early finish to watch the X-Factor !!. If he cant take whats said to him, its maybe time to hang up his whisle. Wherever he is reffing next week, get there early as he will abandon/ask fans to leave, needs to get a grip or jack in.

Well said Stevie.....Ruddy must ne crapping himself now he has a challenger for top scorer....
As for the ref, I bet he's feeling a bit embarassed now, but what gets me is the lack of support he gets from the linesman, and we all know what linesnman we are talking about.
He was big enough to ref Dbt v Threave but he cant voice any support to a ref who was obviously out of control.

You couldn't wait could you? You are nothing but an absolute cock with a vandetta against St Cuthbert Wanderers.

Well, as far as I'm aware there was nothing shouted towards Herr Saunders that wouldn't be shouted at any other game in any other league in the world. Now if that's the way he wants to behave then he should've retired last year. He is an absolute disgrace to the proffession and I think he should call it quits now.

For what it's worth, any spectator who has paid his £1.32 (other admission prices are available, check for deatils) is entitled to voice his opinion, that's why we call this civilisation a democracy after all.

As a footnote I'd just like to thank Herr Sanders for completely ruining the league and, possibly even club, and the toys he threw out of his pram will be available for him to collect the next time he visits St Mary's Park, hopefully they're there for a while. w****r!!!!

Haha...dont think he has a challenger...when u score as rarely as me u need them all to count...
Just think if we would of had the 15 mins things would have cooled down. colin obviously felt he was in the right...which he may well was but surely common sense should come through for the benefit of the players...was turning out a good battling game from both sides....and a moment of madness ruined tht and cost alot of people money...be it gate fee, travelin expense or whatever fines come of this...

What utter plums. I've been watching the game for more than 30 years and never seen any thing like that, and everyone I've spoken to is as flabbergasted as I, and many others, are.

I would say the ref has made a fool of himself especially after his antics last Saturday at Blairmount.

Part and parcel of being a ref is you will get abuse regardless if you have a good game or not and if you accept the money then you have to accept the abuse. Any knights in shining armour who says a ref doesnt deserve abuse then please dont talk to me as refs have to accept the fact that abuse will be coming their way. That is football it happens at every level if you dont like it then dont be involved in football.

I have all the respect in the world for refs but to call off a Southern Counties game for a bit of abuse then you have something personal against supporters or football for that matter.

Oh here we go, another one trying to stir it.

Last week the young Lino at Meadow park ignored everything that was said to him by the Saints crowd and concentrated on the game. Surely any official who takes offence at something a fan shouts must question wether he is in the correct job.

If officials start taking a stand against "these people" then sadly we will not have any games to watch.

Banter is all part of the game, including telling the ref what we think of him. We have all done it and we will all do it again next week. If Mr Saunders, THESPECTATOR and the engineer can't accept this then maybe you should find some other sport to watch on a Saturday afternoon.

Was down at the saints game today and couldn't beleive that the game was abandoned not sure what was shouted at the ref but surely part of a refs training is to cope with verbal abuse the same as a lot of other professions cause lets not forget they do get paid for their services. I have a lot of respect for refs cause i couldn't do their job and i usually do stick up for them but today i think colin will think he could have handled this situation better. I agree with faethetoon's comment it was nearly half time and if he had spoke to both teams and managers at HT and told them what might happen if things didn't settle down we would have had a total different outcome.

Any truth in jazza chucking a chair at the chairman after the game??
People have to learn, no refs = no games..
Not just at south level, more importantly at youth level, I see Colin is a ref today at a youth game. Total respect for Colin for making a stance against these supporters.

I haven't posted for sometime, but I have been reading the posts from THESPECTATOR in this thread and that of the previous Saints - Threave one and in all honestly the person is a prat.

He is obviously anti Saints and simply just trying to stir up s**t.

I wasn't at the Saints - Threave match so I can't comment on what went on or didn't with the referee, or even what happened at Newton Stewart last week with Colin Saunders.

I've played in games which Colin has reffed in the south on loads of occasions and I didn't think he was that bad a ref. But to eject 3 supporters last week and then to abandon a game yesterday because he got some abuse (or whatever) is unabelievable Geoff!

As a referee or a player you at some point during your career are going to get abuse from the crowd, my opinion is they pay their money their allowed to voice their opinion. As a player I was given abuse at various grounds, some quite funny other times quite vile, but you get on with it.

I remember years ago at Saints - Threave games a certain Threave players wife used to get vile abuse and songs sung about her but the games were never stopped and the player got on with it.

Colin it is maybe time to retire if the abuse is bothering you.
