Michel Platini, head of UEFA, has publically stated Sion are ""in clear violation" of a ban on transfers and had used ineligible players in the competition"... From the article, sounding quite clear-cut.

I never doubted that they wouldn't get there but they should have made it without relying on Sion getting punted. They should have made it after all their players were brilliant last night.
They already have a boost ahead of their first game with Majstorovic being suspended.

They will be at a considerable disadvantage if reinstated, as the draw (ongoing as we speak) includes Sion as a Pot 4 side. Celtic would have been a Pot 2 side - so if they are put back in they'll face 2 harder sides than they otherwise would've.

I hope they replace Sion. Watching them gettng pumped off Atletico Madrid, Udinese and Rennes sounds like top-notch television.

So I presume Celtic would just take Sions place in the draw then, irrespective of pots etc?
Because if they do, what a hoor of a draw - Atletico Madrid, Rennes, Udinese and A N Other.
Ooooft.

As much as a shit draw in terms of progressing it is, wouldnt mind going to those games as a Celtic fan.
Udinese were real good to watch against Arsenal and A.Madrid have always been a good footballing side aswell, know nothing about Rennes.
I just hope if reinstated, we put up abit of a fight in these games and were competitive and not get rolled over as im sure most expect us too.

Far be it from me to defend the Old Firm, but if I were connected to Celtic I'd be mightily pissed off that despite being adjudged to have "won" the play-off, they're drawn 2 pots down from where they should be.
UEFA should have had a panel sitting just after the first leg, IMHO. And the draw should have been tomorrow or Monday to give time for 2nd leg appeals to be heard.

I hope Celtic think of their fans and don't put in a protest, I could see some 6 or 7 goal scorelines in that group.
Aw fcuk it, I hope they think about the rest of us, god knows we need a good laugh during those long winter evenings.

Well, they're fucked. But they should be reinstated.
Maybe could have postponed the draw so the correct seeding was there but there you go.

Pfft, being in pot four may be good practice for Celtic.
I [agree/disagree] with your assessment because you [praised/insulted] a [team/person] that I [support/loathe]. Furthermore, I [admire/ridicule] your writing based on the previous statement, and not on the merit of what was actually written.

I hope they do get reinstated. It will be funny to watch them take 6 hammerings and finish bottom with no points.

Much as I'd also enjoy watching them get dragged up off the canvas to take more punishment - I think the additional humiliation is to be avoided at all costs. However, money talks and Celtic have their hands out for more Euromillions and will see defeats of 2 goals or less as success while pocketing the filthy lucre. Embarrassment, wrapped in shame, tied up with greed.
Another season under the belt... going to be a long summer....

Potentially a very lucrative draw. Ironically Celtic seem to perform better against the bigger names imo. A multi million pound get out of jail card if their appeal holds up.

Sion deserve everything they get, it's not like this was an error it was a blatant disregard for rules.
I enjoy following the Scottish clubs in Europe so this would be great news. I know some diddy club fans seem to think that if the OF lose the European money it will result in a 12 way battle for the SPL title, but in reality the 50,000+ fans that turn up every week at Ibrox and Parkhead will always ensure that disparity prevails. I'd rather see them get the money and invest in better players, perhaps buying from other SPL clubs, so as we all reap the benefits.
