Big game on Wednesday night at islecroft. Both teams have had a good start to the season and also have both picked up wins against saints. How do you think this one will go? It will be a tough game for both teams but i think dalbeattie might sneak a win and make this years South of Scotland league very interesting.

If Threave beat Dalbeatie on Wednesday night I think the league could already be over even at this early stage!

Have watched both teams this year and i would say that the star have the personnel to win this game but at this early stage threave look a lot better organised and will probably edge it

Having watched both sides i think threave have more in there locker for this one but its what happens on the night. Dalbeattie v Threave games are useally good games. Dalbeattie will no doubt be up for this, they will still be hurting from the last game of the season against threave. Will be a close game but if Threave play to there strenghts i can see them winning by couple of goals here.

I'll be attending this match and im going to go for a Threave win. 2-0 Struthers and Milligan to score. Get your money on that.

Outrageous goalmouth scramble at the end of the game, no idea how Dalbeattie kept it out.

Me and my two mates (all three of us neutrals) burst out laughing when it was cleared and full time was given as we couldn't understand how it didn't go in. Fantastic stramash, although no idea why there was nearly five minutes stoppage time. Hope the Threave behind the goals team put the scramble online because I'd love to see it again.
Terrific advert for South football. Funnily enough I said before the game I'd love it to be 4-3 because I'd missed a similar thriller involving my own team last night!

Game should have been over by halftime Dalbeattie missed a few chances.Threave dug in and came on strong as the game wore on.
The number 14 for Dalbeattie changed the game with his hold up play and strength on the ball.Fantastc dink for the second goal and an inch perfect cross for one in the second half.
Left back for Threave and first half centre half were awfull.Right back for both teams were excellent.Threave keeper at fault for 3 of the Dalbeattie goals spilled the ball and looked like a disaster waiting to happen.Milligan is a terrifc player and has an unselfish attitude that a lot of players could learn from.
Almost by default the big No14 was on,and gave Dalbeattie a new dimmension, as an injury to Dalbeatties striker led to his introduction.Any time I have seen the lad who came off injured he hasnt got a first touch and very little awareness. (the big sub has both in spades).Linesman on the stand side was at fault for 2-3 of the offsides but overall the referee did well.Decent crowd and game played the right way by both teams.
Very good game, and a lovely pie at half time.

Having seen the game tonight, overall I feel Dalbeattie deserved the points. They played very well in the first half and were unlucky not to add to their two goal advantage at half time. As ever though, threave came back strong but Dalbeattie held out with a very good team performance. As for the scramble at the end, I think everyone at the game could not believe how threave never got the ball in the back of the net.
Very good advert for south of scotland football with some quality players on both sides. If the return game at meadow is as half as good as that one then i would advise everyone to go along. This result makes the league closer and hopefully we will be treated to more matches of this quality.

How the heck can you blame the Threave keeper for 3 of the goals - were you watching the game? (People like you with strange inputs just make pie and bovril a waste of time - and turn it into a slagging match!! The Threave keeper is one of the best in the league, and was definately not at fault for their 3 goals!! There defence was flat, however I will agree their right back did have a good game but there is no way you can blame the Threave keeper for the 3 goals!!!! The big tall centre half for dalbeattie started to look like he was tiring in the second half but had a good first half. As for the official you said the referee did well over all.. i would say he kept a tight grip of the game which is needed and as for both linesman they were hardly noticed, they had very good games with little involvment so where you found 2-3 offsides that one of them missed is strange!! i must say during the last 30 seconds you could argue threaves shot was over the line but I couldn't see it well enough... possibly a hand ball too, 5 minutes of extra time was odd.
All in all the game was very exciting and a good advert for the south with a good crowd and nice pies!! Whens the next derby??? That's now two topping derbies at the beginning of the season Threave v saints was great and now dbt V Threave!!

He fumbled the ball for 3 of the 4 goals its as simple as that if you didnt see that, then maybe your dog did.He also had another 2 that he got away with.
As for slanging match, well who mentioned slanging match ? .The offsides were where Dalbeattie would have been left one on one when the game was getting tighter, and could have gave the home side a bit of breathing space.
I dont support either team, indeed dont follow any team in the South, but contribute through the gate/raffle/halftime draw etc .Been at Dalbeattie 3 times this season and enjoyed all the games.

Great advert for south of Scotland football. Best game I've watched in a long time, thought star had the game won early on, but credit for Threave for coming back and nearly getting back level. Was worth the entry money.......

I was slightly off with my prediciton
Anyway about the game, well it was fantastic simple as that, best part of the match was the scramble at the end! Im sure i saw a kitchen sink get thrown into the Dalbeattie goalmouth, truly amazing how the ball never went in.

Slanging? What's that? I'm sure I said slagging ... Anyway...
All I'm saying is I the keeper cannot be to blame for them three goals, not chance! He fumbled a couple of times but not for the goals they were well taken... in that case I think it was maybe your dog watching the game and it taking you for a walk... I think that sounds right... the offsides, I think your dog has seen them too and told you, I was stading to the right of the dugouts and seen nothing, all of dalbeatties one on one runs were played brilliant by young millie one of the best players in that league the number 5 defender - someone bell or something was sitting fairly deep and I thought played poor and seemed unfit... maybe you just go with people appealing haha, all joking a side it was a great game to be at and hopefully many more to follow and your right the pies are good from dalbeattie... even better at kilmarnock you can't beat a killie pie.
