Fair enough for my team - but Celtic?
Worse still, they've loaned a shit third-choice keeper from a mediocre midtable English club. I wouldn't swap Cammy Bell for him.

What makes it better is that I know slot of Sellick fans who were glad he came back
FC Sion
Loaning out a shite keeper who is third choice at a decent mid-table premiership side
Forgot to mention OF fans with tear stained statuses on Facbook.

Complete and utter ineptitude really.
I said all through last season as there would be little excuse iof the Old firm didn;t make the group stages of the CL and EL respectively. The Champions pathway was set up to benefit clubs like them, whilst their seeding in the EL would see them up against the likes of Sion.
I stand by that now, for a;; the talk about money, and player quality,Celtic should eb beating a side like Sion - one look at Shamrock Rovers bursts the money arguement
As for the game itself, whilst you can;t legislate for Mastorojovic, again we saw Lennon freeze when Plan A wasn't working. The first half actually had shades of one of his best performances as Celtic boss - the 2-2 Cup draw at Ibrox - and with ki, kayal;, ledley and Brown in midfield we looked comfortable enough.
He should have made changes earlier though, at 60 minutes prefferably. Especially as it was obvious Kayal and Hooper would start flagging eventually.

I really rate Cammy Bell, he tends to pretty eye-catching against us

I'm probably one of Lennon's biggest fans but he simply HAS to start picking the right players. At the moment I would have Mulgrew in the centre with Wilson until we buy another centre half to replace the Swedish chump. Whether McCourt lasts a full 90mins at present is irrelevant. He has proved in the past that he can be a major influence on games and he deserves his chance to start. How do we know he can't last 90mins if he's never been given the chance??? Samaras has zero confidence and scores the square root of feck all. We've just given him a new contract so why not ship him off on loan somewhere to get regular games? There's no doubt he has ability but he's in the mother of all slumps at present. Adam Mathews has been impressive everytime he's played so why does Cha come in?
Hooper and Stokes should never be broken up as a partnership (barring injuries) and with a midfield of Kayal, Brown, McCourt and Ki the centre half pairing is pretty much our immediate concern. Left back is fine when Izzy is fit and right back should belong to Mathews. although he's only 19 he's old enough going by early form.

Platini has come out and admitted that Sion broke the rules - http://sport.stv.tv/...a-league-place/ The hearing is on Tuesday, where Celtic could be handed a 3-0 victory for the home leg, which would send them through.
The problem: Sion are in pot 4 for the group stage draw, whereas Celtic would have been in pot 2. So while a simple swap is the most likely outcome should Celtic find themselves reinstated, they'll be (on paper, at least) at a disadvantage.

uefa registered the players for the games. they had to that because of the swiss court judgement, surely they will have to go through the swiss courts again?
edit - also i wonder what celtic have to say about platini making statements before the hearing? exactly the sort of thing they'd pull the sfa up about.

Eh? UEFA have categorically stated that they are not bound by the Swiss courts. So I don't know where you've got that from.

Surely the fact that the Swiss courts got involved will piss UEFA off even more.
Were an Italian side not close to getting punted by UEFA (possibly Juve?) after their relegation when they tried to appeal it in the italian courts?

Maybe it's a measure of how far standards have dropped in Scotland, but SIon looked a competent enough side to me. No thrills, just good enough to do the basics, which automatically makes them better than Celtic. I think it's also measure of how little Scottish football fans are learning (Celtic fans included), when a team like Sion is contemptuously dismissed beforehand. They are plainly better than any Scottish side, Celtic and Rangers apart (and even then !).
So then, giving them a goal and a man advantage almost straight from the kick-off meant that it was always going to be a tall order. As it turned out, the Hoops did okay for the most part, if you except the giving away cheap goals, which is kind of fundamental in the game.
I'd say that man for man, Celtic had the better players, but they look dreadfully short on confidence at this level. Almost scared to play a pass, which may explain the cheap goals. Unfortunately, NL looks as if the pressure's getting to him at present too.
In the end a depressing night (early morning for me I stayed up to 3.30 am to watch it), but not entirely unexpected.

How? Celtic have been found out as being shite in Europe (again), for long enough you try and separate yourself from Scottish football. It's nothing to do with us when you succeed in Europe, so it's nothing to do with us when you fail

Finishing second in a two horse, financially boosted race means f**k all.
You're out (probably temporarily) because your Manager is a fucking clown. A decent manager, with the same squad of players at his disposal would almost certainly disposed of FC Sion.
#322 BROWN STAR WARS
A turd of such epic proportions it has to be released in three installments. The first can stand on its own as a complete adventure. The second links to the first, but has a dark, inconclusive feel generating an air of foreboding and leaving itself wide open for an unknown ending. The final chapter has drama, excitement and moments where you think all is lost. A grand battle is waged where good overcomes evil and peace is restored in your gut.

A slight overreaction?
I'm not one that screams for managers to be sacked quickly. Every team tends to go through dodgy periods and not even the best are immune from it.
Lennon deserves time to get things right. Where would Man Utd be just now had they not given Ferguson time to get the team the way he wanted it? I don't think he won anything at all for about the first 5yrs! Says a lot for the board of Man U at that time.
I like the way we were playing from a football point of view (overall results aside) since Lennon took over. He likes to have his team pass the ball and emphasis is always on attack. As a Celtic fan this suits me down to the ground. Give him another year and a half from now at the earliest imho.
