I've never seen such an uncomfortable performance from Bayern. Well done Mainz, quite easy 3 points picked up even though it finished 3-2.

Bayern were awful.

They never played like a team. I think there maybe problems brewing in the dressing room. Having such a settled first-11, a few big egos will be wanting in the team, Robben for example!

I still think they'll win the league, but it'll be a close run affair!

So Bayern Herbstmeisters and ten days till the second half of the season begins in little over ten days...

... It's between Bayern and Dortmund for the title. I think the Champions League could have an adverse effect on Bayern, who, if they pick up a couple of injuries again like they did in November could falter.

Thoughts?

Aleksandr Hleb is training with FC Augsburg at the moment. The club have denied that any deal is imminent, and insist he is only using the facilities to keep fit, but what a signing that could be for FCA! I know he has had his injury concerns, and only played a couple of times when with Wolfsburg in the first half of the season, but a player of his quality could be the difference between relegation and survival.

Augsburg have also signed Schalke's Czech Republic international midfielder Jan Moravek on loan until the end of the season. Could do with a nippy striker to play alongside Sascha Mölders, but otherwise things are looking up.

Bayern won 4-0 in their last winter friendly against Rot-Weiß Erfurt.

As expected Bayern dominated throughout, but Erfurt had a couple decent chances that they should have put away.

Winter break now over, back to business tonight with Borussia Mönchengladbach hosting Bayern.
Believe it's also on ESPN in the UK.

A win for the home team would put them 1 point behind Munich at the top of the league.

Got my tickets booked for the Hertha vs Hannover game in two weeks time.

Anyone got any good suggestions for pubs in and around the Olympiastadion?

Or even in Berlin in general??

3 of us going but none of us have been to Berlin for a good few years so no doubt we will get lost at some point and my broken down rusty German will not suffice

Borussia were 9/2 for this game, shame I only put £2 on it. Wonder if Reus has been given extra motivation by the snide digs Bayern have been getting in.

This wee Herrmann guy has scored two really good goals. Quality finishes both of them. Only 20 years old.

WH had a special offer on for Reus to score anytime and Borussia to win @ 10 or 11/1. Wish I'd stuck even £1 on it.

Just watched the second half tonight, the home team were mightily impressive. As mentioned Herrmann and Reus stood out for me.

It's been an amazing turn around - they looked dead and buried at the bottom this stage last year...now challenging for the title. I don't think they've even changed the squad that much which makes it all the more remarkable. It would be like Wigan being title contenders this season...just incredible.

There is a pub outside the ground on the way up from the S-Bahn station. But there is not much else round the stadium since it's a good bit out from the centre (Potzdam Platz)

Bayern were awful last night, looked a shadow without Ribery. I think Müller has lost something this season and maybe a spell on the bench would do him good.

Neuer is a weird keeper, the Germans love him (apart from Bayern's Schikera element) and I know he's a great shot stopper but he's prone to these mistakes and isn't comfortable under crosses and this season let a few goals in at the near post.

But, even if Dortmund win, (who are away at Hamburg who are undefeated in 8 games) Bayern still top the league.

Bayern really don't help themselves in that regard. Last season before Bayern-Dortmund, Van Gaal kept rambling on about Bayern having "better players in ever position on the field". Dortmund dominated the c***s. 8)

Yas! On yersel Lucas! :D
It's getting kind of hard to believe things are going to get better. I've been drowning too long to believe that the tide is going to turn. And I've been living too hard to believe things are going to get easier now. I'm still trying to shake off the pain from the lessons I've learned. And if I see Van Helsing, I swear to the lord I will slay him. AHA HA HA. He take you from me but I swear I won't let it be so. AHA HA HA. Blood, will run done his face, when he is decapitated AH! His head on my mantle is how I will let this world know...how much I love you.
Die, die, die....I can't
