Simply delighted it isn't a Scot or Brit. When names like Walter Smith, Roy Aitken and even Alex Miller were in the frame I was fearful. Hopefully an outsider brings fresh perspective, no preconceptions, and no managerial old-boys-club loyalties.

He seems to talk a good game. He also had the privilege of stepping up a fair couple of now world fads footballers. Like hibeejibee said, I'm also glad that it isn't a Scot or British appointment. Hopefully he improves the early touches format and gets youths trying to play good football as they progress.

Scott Booth has been appointed Mark Wotte's assistant.
He will have special responsibility for the Under 16 squad (Victory Shield), and will also be head coach for that age-group, in the proposed National Performance School(s). According to the SFA press release, he has an A and B license and is working towards a UEFA Pro license.
Thoughts on this?

I don't like his analysis when he's a commentator, but that's not much to judge him on.
He has played football in Germany and the Netherlands as well as here, and will hopefully have picked up some ideas from his time over there. Presumably the Dutch connection is one of the reasons he was chosen to work with Wotte.

It surprised me in the respect of his lack of experience: I think I'm right in saying this is his first actual coaching job, whether with a club or a representative side. However, you must assume the he has been identified as a "hidden gem"/"rising star" or suchlike, in which case fair enough and good luck to him.
