Fifa 12

Looks good, but I think I'll wait until it goes down in price this time. It just gets too repetitive after 18 years!

That looks pretty good. I like the new menu, looks more like Madden/Tiger Woods and other EA releases. I don't even own FIFA 11 so this is a must buy for me. As with most FIFA games the gameplay will be excellent but the overall game will most likely be flawed. There's nothing drastically changed from the sound of things.

I've heard the First Divison will be included, can anyone confirm? I'll get that hilaaarious joke out of the way quickly.

I will buy this. I've broken Fifa 09, 10 and 11, so this better not be as rage enducing.

Different achievements to give you a new thing to try, like adding competitions and challenges, etc. Not the same old play 50 hours, win 100 games that c***s will quit out of, play 500 games with your pro.

Oh, and scrap the goalkeeper nonsense... that was just awful!

Or you could just play it and enjoy it instead of trying to increase your geekerscore.

The day I choose not to buy something purely based on what points it gives for "achievements" will be a very sad one.

All you ever do on this website is judge. Why don't you lighten up and stop being so condescending to others? Some people 'enjoy' getting achievements. What's wrong with that?

I can do as I please

Not to buy it when it comes out because of the achievements is just bizarre to say the least. Considering this is a football website too, you would expect football fans here and given it will likely be the best football game available when it comes out is a bit odd, No?

Damn, I was hoping to make you come out and call me a c**t or something.

For what it's worth I find myself agreeing with a lot of the posts you make, but I think it's not unreasonable to expect or want a change in the achievements on offer.

Aye but not so much that you don't buy it when it comes out.

I don't really understand people that play games just for achievements. One of my pals went through a phase of renting games just to get achievements, even really shit ones just because you could increase your gamerscore easily and quickly.

It's sort of like a measure of how much of a gimp you are. Massive gamerscore = total gimp

Despite having an Xbox 360 for about four years, my gamerscore is under 16,000. Does that make me a gimp? :(

I completely agree with this. Who gives a f**k about achievements. I play because I enjoy the game, but they way salty talks on the FIFA threads about achievements is as if he only plays they game to get the achievements.

If they make the achievements varied it shows you different elements of the game which you normally wouldn't touch. I.E. most people would probably only play 1v1 matches, against friends or online.

Okay, the be a goalkeeper was awful, but I wouldn't have gone near it if there wasn't an achievement involved which made me take a look at it. It was pretty shit tbh, but at least I found that out.

The online is was horrendous, with the number of quitters at an all-time high... so having as many different modes as possible is an important thing that would make me pay £30+ for a game, and the fact that I get bored very easily makes having something to aim for in the game more fun, and more likely to keep my very limited attention. If that upsets yourself, or a troll like Standfree, then who really gives a shit...

I may get it eventually, but won't be paying full price for it like I did for Fifa 11.

I would also like to know the gamerscore:gimpness ratio. I would never buy a game just for the achievement points. But at the same time, once I complete the storyline in a game I will keep on playing it until I have at least 50% of the points, no matter how shite the game is. Unless the achievements are really difficult or tedious, like FUEL.

Likewise, if the game is decent enough I'll keep going and get as much as possible but if I complete it (even if it's fairly crap), I will make sure I get about 50%.

A game usually has about half an hour to show me that it's worth playing, and if it's just too shit it'll go regardless of what stage I'm at. I'm looking at you X-Men... completed the three training stages, and gave up about a minute into the actual game. What a pile of shite!

You bemoan paying thirty quid for a good game yet I bet you have spent money on utter shite just to get points. To say you do it because it opens up more of the game to you is just pish

And I'm not trolling either. I just find achievements utterly ironic. You could switch off the computer, go outside and achieve something worthwhile instead

I get what you are saying about the achievements making you try things you wouldn't. I just tend to try things to see if they are any good anyway and if they aren't I wouldn't play them to get achievements. Different attitudes towards gaming I guess.

So are you and McKee saying that even if you aren't enjoying playing the game you will continue to play just to get points or achievements?
If so, that's simply the most ridiculous thing I have ever read. The point is surely to have fun and enjoy the game, not to sit there for hours wishing you were doing something else just so you get to have meaningless points?

Also, it doesn't annoy me in the slightest what you do on games, I just find it strange that someone would buy a game just depending on what gratification he would get for playing it rather than how much he enjoys playing it.

That's my view on things. I cannot understand why someone would buy or rent a shite game and spend time playing it just to get points.

Does anyone actually see a huge gamerscore and think "wow! That guy is a god!"?

There actually probably is, but they are even sadder than the folk with high gamerscores. When I see someone with a high rating on COD and their game time is like 30 days, I thank god I have real friends I can do actual things with instead of virtual ones because it's clear they haven't left the house in, quite literally, weeks.

All I hope with this game is that in BAP your team mates aren't retards that constantly run into the opposition.

What's the point in buying a game, realising it's shit, then just throwing it to the side? May as well get some worth out of it.

I wouldn't waste my time on game magazines, or similar websites. I mostly have a good taste in games anyway. The only games I have that are shite are Fantastic Four, Spiderman 3(both came with the console) and Virtua Tennis 09.
