I didn't see a thread on this so here it is.
I didn't play the first game but heard it was fantastic fun.

Still a PC exclusive for those of you that only use consoles but I think the interface looks a little too complex to build into a console.
Thoughts?

Out mid May I believe.

I have The Witcher and it was absolutely superb. Thought I was the only person in the country that had even heard of it, ha!

You can probably get the 1st one for under a tenner, I highly recommend it to get you into the swing of things. The first couple of hours are tedious and the first boss is one of the hardest in the game, but for one strategy that relies on luck to beat!

After that it's spectacular and suffers only from a poor range of attacks and armour. Both of which have been rectified! I can't wait.

I was starting to think no-one was else was interested in this!
Over on the GameTrailers website, it's about the most anticipated release of the year except maybe BF3.
I must just pick up the first one, £10.40 on amazon.

There a pretty good offer for pre-order. I don't usually care much for premium editions or whatever but tempted at that price.

I've bought The Witcher 2 because GiGi had high praise for the original game. I was checking out a few reviews and videos for the original a few days ago and noticed that the sequel was out. I conducted a bit of research into it and decided to purchase the game. Still waiting for it to arrive from Play but I have high hopes.

You better hope your PC is prepared. I've heard of it completely rear ending some people's.

It does look incredible! Still, my PC should be passable. We shall need to wait and see...

Won't work on my laptop so I'll have to miss out.

Read in Xbox World 360 it was coming to consoles, take it it was scrapped? Shame that, Michael Gapper from the magazine called it 'his RPG of the last decade'.

I'm not entirely sure if it was scrapped. Read on a different forum that it was coming out on consoles but it was a seperate project so would have a different release date for the console version.

Well, it installed ok and the intro to the game ran smoothly albeit on low settings. Attempted to play the game and it began to stutter as badly as Martin Hardie trying to run with broken legs  PC technology has now advanced to new levels and I have been left in the doldrums... I needed an excuse to purchase a new PC anyways, it's about time I caught up with today's market.

It does need fairly up to date hardware just to play at low settings. Make sure you turned ubersampling off btw. Might fix your problem a bit but I'd imagine you need to update your hardware.

Was confirmed in this months issue of XBox World that it's not in development yet but is coming eventually, good news would seem!

Finally got round to getting this. Well, the burd got me it anyway for no reason other than to cheer me up, ace!

Anyway, it's refreshingly difficult and even with my 2 year old PC I'm getting good framerates on mostly high settings, fair beasting my GPU though, never seen it reach 80*C before.

It looks stunning, the fighting takes a lot of getting used to but it's more gratifying than the last game. Fighting 5 or 6 monsters was a piece of piss on the original, on this you're struggling with any more than 2! Hit and run for the win by the looks of it. If the storyline is as compelling as TW1 then this might be my favourite game ever.

The combat is really difficult and I think it's a really realistic impression of fighting with a sword. That graphics are really amazing, I recently upgraded my GPU and it's just amazing.

Well it's not that realistic. I think no matter how good you are you're not going to fare very well against a troll or the crazy Poles' interpretation of the kraken. :D

It's just a much harder and more tactical game than the last one. And it can be whatever you make of it, a potion master tactician, kickarse with the signs or just go for a good old hack and slash, run in and boot the shite out of everything that moves.

I think it's gotten easier after about level 6-7 though, with better armour, weapons and more health it's a bit easier not to get wiped out in seconds by 3 or 4 of the weakest monsters in the game. Now I'm confidently wrecking squads of harpies, endrega's, people... :D

Aye saw that, one of the best trailers I've seen in some time.
I haven't even finished the initial game yet with so many other games on the go this year but it really is magnificent, one of my top 5 games of the year.

Any news yet of it coming to consoles? Sounds a similar deal to Skyrim, which I fell in love with, so with only having a standard laptop now, any Xbox release of this would be met with happiness.

Err, yeah. That's what the trailer's for.

It's not similar to Skyrim at all other than vaguely the same genre. It's brilliant though and one of my favourite games ever. A must for RPG lovers.

I was in work, youtube videos just appear as blank space for me, hence why I asked.

Good news - in saying "similar to Skyrim" I pretty much meant the same kind of genre, but on looking more into the game, it doesn't look like it's Open World in the same way Skyrim is? Is it pretty linear this game? Looks good though, will definitely give it a go.

Yeah pretty linear but it's more focused on its story than TES games. There are still side quests, mostly hunting' to do which are good to get loot and level up etc but it's also a more mature and more difficult game to master than Skyrim too. A fantastic sequel and an excellent game in its own right too.

Plus the graphics are fucking stunning.

Yeah, that seems to be the thing everyone has said about it, critics and fans. Graphically it's amazing. Will be interesting to see how much of a climb-down there is between PC and XBox. Hopefully with the increased development time, they've gone down the route of Valve and have optimised the game well. We'll see.
