Refs injured/short, nothing controversial, just thin this week...

Just out of interest aphex, why is Frank Campbell and another border am ref that we've had this season (don't know his name) running the line at the Selkirk game today? They don't need linesmen, we need refs!!!

Took in the Gala Rovers v Duns game today. Have to say that it's the first time I've seen Duns in a while and I'd been told that they had adopted the Rovers football philosophy and to be fair, I thought they tried to pass it about when they could. A fairly tight game, neither keeper tested that much but some good football played from both teams on a bobbly pitch. The Rovers edged the first half but two debatable free kicks in dangerous positions made the difference in the second half as the Duns number 10 buried both in Beckham fashion. Best free kicks I've seen in a long time at any level.
I think that that was the difference between the teams. Duns should take the league from Leithen IMO with the Rovers finishing third but the South Cup could be won by any of the three as there's very little between them.

I was down watching the above game and I felt that Duns were head and shoulders above Gala. Good advert for border am footy though!

Ive heard that Leithen have signed Callum Hope from Hawick Waverley, is this correct? If so, promises to be a great attack line with lots of pace!

It was a good advert for the border amateur league, i'll give you that BB but I don't know how you can say Duns were 'head and shoulders' above gala rovers when there were no real chances in the game.Posted Image

After a slow start the Rovers pretty much dominated the first half without creating a clear chance. Second half was definitely Duns' but at the end of the day two pieces of individual brilliance were the difference between the teams. In response to YSA's views on the decisions, I would admit the first free kick was a fair decision but the second was more debatable. After the rovers pulled one back late on they were caught by a sucker punch on the counter that put the game to bed. Perhaps a draw would have been a fair result but you can't argue with a couple of great pieces of skill from the Duns no.10.

Duns will surely go on to win the league now although it wont take much to change the complexion of the run-in should a few results not go their way.

Think it will come down to the leauge game duns v leithen for the leauge, duns have a superior goal difference of 10, leithen had a tough game at greenlaw!!!!! as for the south, anybody could win it, good to see all border am teams there!!:D
