Battlefield 3 Trailer

This looks STUNNING....it's like watching a movie.

It's due for release in the last quarter, so still got forever to wait. Keeping my fingers crossed that it plays as well on the xbox as it will on PC.

Based on the trailer, this will be getting pre-ordered for first day play.

That's not a video game! Posted Image

I heard it is out the same day as COD. Bit of a daft move there I think.

I would be surprised if that was true. There has been no info on an actual release date for either game, at best we know they will be out Oct-Nov 2011. I imagine they will take the same approach as MoH, and release a few weeks prior to CoD8 - it would surely be suicide to go up directly against the juggernaut that CoD has become.

I've bought the last 4 CoD games and loved every bit of them, but i'm far more excited about the release of BF3, than seeing what the remains of IW offer up in CoD8.

Going by the previous BF games, this thread will no doubt drop off the first page while CoD8 will be up at 30pages before it is even released. A real shame given how incredible this game looks, hopefully people give it a chance.

I actually prefer Battlefield to CoD these days. CoD is getting stale and I generally play BFBC2 before Black Ops now, and it'll be the same when the next ones are out too. Can't wait.

Absolutely! BFBC2 is one of my favourite games and as a dedicated PC gamer, it pumps COD every which way.

I can't wait for this.

A must buy for any shooter lover. MILES better than COD, and this is coming from a big COD fan. Hypothetically speaking of course, but if BF3 and COD 8 come out on the same day, I would get BF3.

Battlefield is a great game. I feel the Call of Duty hasn't much more to offer whereas Battlefield has unlimited possibilities.
Still Call of Duty could repack the same game and still be bought by the millions of fan boys worldwide.

Just got Battlefield 2 today, having never played it before.

Loving it so far, been playing for a good while this afternoon. Really need to get a new assault rifle as the base one is a bit pants. Enjoying sniping though, its very satisfying.

Sound effects are fantastic, especially if you compare them to the likes of Black Ops.

Great game. I'm flying through the assault rifles now, up to and including the AUG plus other wee gadgets. But my favourite for whoopin ass is the F2000, hundreds of kills with that in the last few days.

I am only on the Second Assault rifle but got a few sniper rifles. Love the way you can blow up everything, it's epic.

If you're looking for an easy way to rank up, engineer class is a skoosh. Once you unlock a decent sub machine gun and the repair tool you can pretty much get 3000 points per round.

The first engi weapon, the 9a-91 is my favourite gun in the game.

Actually, I just noticed you saying that engi is the easiest to level up - couldn't disagree more, I'd say it's 100% medic. Spam med kits and you'll be in the top few every game.

Fair doos. Personally I don't like going medic, that's my least frequently used class. Engineer the most frequent, then assault.

I like the look of some of the later medic LMGs you can unlock, I've picked a few up from guys I've killed and laid waste to entire squads with the fuckers. Good times.

Wow, that looks the real deal, I've never played any of the battlefield before, is this more a storyline game rather than online?

Nope, single player is just an afterthought the same way as it is with CoD and whatever else. It's all about the multiplayer.

Is it along the same sort of lines as COD, set up maps and two teams trying to wipe each other out?

My only experience of the battlefield series is the Bad Company games. They both follow the same format as CoD - relatively short campaign mode, but an excellent multiplayer set-up.

Battlefield's online game mode options may not be quite as extensive as CoD, from what I can remember there were Team Death, Conquest, and Rush game modes. Conquest is a Capture the Flag game similar to CoD's domination, while Rush sees one team try to defend a series of stations, while the other team attempts to blow them up.

The maps are on a far bigger scale than CoD's, but with more players in each map, they never feel empty/deserted.

I think a couple of the biggest plus points over CoD is the inclusion of vehicles (boats, tanks, humvees, quad bikes, helicopters) & the destructible environment. If some sniper is hiding out in a building, you can destory the walls of the building with tank shells, chopper rockets, c4, RPGs etc. Brings a whole other element to the game.

It took me about 15-20 hours to completely convert to BC2 from CoD. The hardest thing is playing as part of a squad, rather than going lone wolf. In BC2, you play as one of 4 classes: Recon (Sniper Rifles & Mortars), Engineer (Sub Machine Guns/Vehicle Repair), Assault (Assault Rifles & Ammo), Medic (LMGs/MediKit & Defibrilator for Reviving). If you just run around by yourself, you will be killed off quickly & ultimately fail the game mode objective. Playing as a squad/team isn't something I thought I would be into, but it ends up being awesome - resupplying team mates with ammo/ offering sniper support from distance and marking enemies/ healing/reviving team mates making a push for an objective/ or fixing up tanks to maintain the stronghold on the map.

From what I remember there is a similar(ish) weapon unlocking system - as you rank up you unlock armour, anti tank mines, scopes etc.

I assume the Battlefield 3 game will be along similar lines to the Bad Company 2 game. Hope that sort of helps with what the game is like....
