There has been a few shocks in the South Cup so far, Greenlaw defeating Carluke Hearts, Carnwath defeating holders Newtongrange Star 'A'

Will there be any more shocks?

Who do you think will make the final?

I personally can't see past a Leithen Rovers vs Duns final, 2 of the strongest Border Am teams who are both in great form at the moment, probably too close to call though.

Can Gala Rovers, Maxwelltown Thistle, Greenlaw, Carnwath cause an upset?

Your thoughts please........

It won't be an upset if Carnwath win it. They are a very good strong side playing with confidence and will probably fancy their chances against anyone.

Think winner will almost certainly be Leithen or duns as well.Easily the two best teams I have seen this season in the borders although I don't know very much about carnwath must be decent side beating last years winners.

Was that Carnwaths full team that came down to Jed last week?

It's a tough one to call, carnwath by all accounts have a strong team with a lot of boys who hav played with Monteith as well as other strong lanarkshire teams. However, they will more than likely face duns which shud b an interesting tie as duns are very strong this year. Gala will prob come thru against max so we will face a tough game as well but with home advantage it mite just give us the edge.

I've not seen Carnwath this season, but looking at their results in the previous rounds, no disrespect to Lauder and Jed Legion, I think Duns will be too strong for them. Duns are running away with the Border Am, and have a lot of former E.O.S players, who's experience should prove too strong for Carnwath, if they manage to get past Greenlaw who will be well up for it, after a pretty poor season so far, I'm quite sure they will give Duns a tough game.

Think man for man gala and Leithen are everybit as good as duns if not better, however duns are in control of league but still a lot of football to be played this season.

Is it not Duns who have to get past Greenlaw.also not exactly running away with Border Am if Leithen win games in hand they will only be 1 point behind

Yes, that's what I meant, Duns have a tough game against Greenlaw, who so far this season have been pretty poor, although on there day are capable of playing well and maybe pulling off a shock, as they did in the last round against Carluke Hearts. I still fancy Duns myself. Leithen Rovers need to win those games in hand, Duns have the points in the bag, and it's hard to see Duns dropping many points from there remaining games.

I'm not sure who will win it but dont write off Gala Rovers. They had a patchy start with players playing out of postiton and some key players injured and away to Eos teams, but most they guys are back now and Bruce Noble coming back is a huge boost. Pentcaitland away on Sat so that should be a good idicator of how much there improving because no offence but the last 3 games have been against lower placed teams. Carnwrath could be darkhorses as no one plays against them week in week out! However all teams are capable of beating each other on their day. But i'm going with Gala Rovers.

Wouldn't have said Max Thistle will casue any upsets as three stronger DDAFL sides have crashed out, hope they do though!

Duns are pretty strong with x e.o.s players but haven't had a single result against leithen rovers so I wouldnt say they have ran away with league just yet.... :) and still have to host them at Duns

Having played all of the teams in the running other than Leithen Rovs and Mawelltown, I would be surprised if it wasnt a Border Amateur team who won it and in my opinion it will come from either Duns, Gala or Leithen Rovs with my prediction a Duns v Leithen final but wouldnt like to call a winner.

If Leithen do get to the final I just hope my old mucker Sammy 'Cheeks' Burton doesny bare his arse to opposing supporters and get himself sent off like he has been known to do in past cup finals.

 :o

After playing against Carnwath at the weekend, I would be very dissapointed with the standard of the South Cup if they won it. We went down there with a few strong players missing and im sure Carnwath boys would agree were quite unlucky. If the referee had been stronger Carnwath would have been down to 10 in first half after one of the worst tackles ive ever seen (which went unpunished???). They then got a penalty out of nothing ( which was the right decision tho) but needless from our defender. . They then got a second on the counter and we were left scratching our heads. Good luck to Carnwath as they were decent lads but I dont think it would take a good team to overcome them!

Last season:

Chirnside 2-1 Caluke Hearts, Sat 27th March 2010 @ Victoria Park
Newtongrange Star A 2-1 Linton Hotspur, Fri 9th April @ Saughton Enclosure

If both ties are at Victoria, according to the EOS web, the Vale are away on the 12th March, there are no other fixtures available past that date in March yet.
So the 12th March could be a possibility, have to wait and see as regards to the other tie.
