I'm off to Melbourne this weekend and will be taking in my first ever AFL game. Decided to support Richmond as they play in black and gold. They've won 2 in a row after a poor start so hopefully their winning run continues.

Will be a tough game for the Tigers, Freo coming off the bye & a good win against my mob (Bulldogs).
When Saints got going today they looked good. Lenny Hayes is a big out, but St Kilda will easily make Finals and I reckon they'll make top 4.

I'm still thinking back to 97 when they where near the bottom after round 6 but still made the GF.

Saints will be fine, played decent today in spells and I think they will beat most teams and will make the top four along with Geelong, Hawthorn and Collingwood.
You still so confident? Its looking really bad for your boys. Not sure Hawthorn look that great either. Carlton and maybe essendon make up my tips for top 4 along with Geelong and the Pies!

Marathon, not a sprint.

Essendon won't be top four this year, Calrton maybe, but still a long shot.

Think i picked a good game to go to! Freo should've been miles ahead after the 1st quarter but after half time richmond ran riot. It was nice to go to a sporting event with a good atmosphere again, the noise in a full MCG must be incredible.

I starting supporting North Melbourne when I was out in Australia a few years ago and went to quite a few games including a couple of point win over Collingwood :) . It felt what I imagine beating the old firm would be like.

North are really struggling this season. Just watched the one point loss against Sydney on Liveafl.tv. Aussie Rules is the only sport that I actually get really excited about (apart from the odd football game) was banging the table, shouting at the screen and all sorts by the end

I know the feeling. Really can't be bothered with football at times. Just about got myself motivated for the champions league final but was disappointed by the lack of competition in the game.
My brother and I have also bought afl live on xbox. It's a good game and now has made FIFA seem a little boring. I'm beginning to think the Aussies are ruining my life!

We are finished, season over.

Only good thing about the game on Sunday, was having ample amounts of beer.

I bow down to your superior foresight about the bombers. I really thought they looked good early on but perhaps injuries hurt them. Well that and not being able to decide on the best mix of tall forwards/ricks. Have to say that I still like the look of Carlton but can't see past the pies for the premier. As the season had gone on I find my hate of the cats growing and now not a fan of the saints due to them being boring. I also hate ate is Milne with a passion and for no apparent reason. I'm guessing I'm turning into a proper pies fan, although still haven't grown a mullet or beat my wife but maybe that's still to come. Have also enjoyed the dreamteam ad would like to get more people from here on it next season to spark a bit more banter.

Walker's Grab looks a stick on for mark of the year! Some leap. Eddie Betts wAs on fire last week too. Think it'll be the lack of a big solid defender that will hold the blues back from the premiership.

A salmon with a burst head- but a salmon nonetheless!
What I can't understand is why all the commentators love judd. Yeah he's good but feel that murphy is having a better season as is Gibbs. It just seems that the commentators love judd no matter what he does. He was anonymous for a bit of the 2nd half against the bombers but no one mentioned it. It a bit like gerrard with Liverpool. Sure he's good but he doesn't grab as many games by the scruff of the neck like he should. All thy being said this is only my first full season following the afl so I could be wrong b

Saw the Cats pumped Collingwood. Jolly Good! If I remember correctly, Collingwoods 2 defeats this season have both been by Geelong!

As an aside, has anyone watched a Grand Final in Scotland? Are there any pubs that show it? I'm guessing the 2 Walkabouts but do they open early enough?

It was a cracking game and congratulations to the cats. While I have hated them all season long I was so impressed with the effort of their midfield around the contest. Just bullied the pies out of the game.
I really enjoyed the season. Thought Carlton looked good- a couple of tall players away from being very good. Hawthorn were impressive and I think Essendon would have pushed harder if it hadn't been for some big injuries. Think the swans will struggle as their list is getting on a bit, although goodes is an absolute freak of nature.
The pies will need to re-group and they will need to toughen up if they want to be considered a great team. Not sure that Buckley has the ability to coach the team on his own and he's lost a few of the other coaches, so lots of work to do.
Can't believe it's 5 months with no footy!! Feeling the hole in my life already!!
Bloody Aussies and their impact on my life. Still I'll be on the vb and tooheys until the new season starts. And I'll have afl live on xbox to keep me going!
