What's amazing is how this level can be sustained for so long. They've been on court at least 5 hours. Incredible. And yet, apparently the loser of this match deserves the same money as Sharapova got for her pathetic performance yesterday.

The weaklings women should play best of five sets in grand slams. Absolutely no reason why they shouldn't.

Djokovic must be one of the fittest guys on the planet!

Excellent stuff and I'm glad he won.

Anyone heading along to the Davis Cup at Braehead?

No physical reason, sure, and considering the fact that the prize money is equal, it makes sense. But from an entertainment perspective, I'm definitely glad they don't play 5 sets. 5-set WTA would mean having to suffer watching a poor standard of tennis for longer periods of time than should ever be necessary. ;)

Compelling viewing today, quite a match the pair of them put together today. I was behind Djokovic until 0-40 on Nadal's serve at 3-4 in the 4th, but realigned once we got to the fifth. Djokovic seemed to be fading but that was a fine display in that fifth set, and he deserves all the superlatives he'll get after playing well over 10 hours of tennis at that level in 48 hours.

Was about to say the same but you've beaten me to it. Personally I've almost no interest in the womens game. I couldn't even tell you what Azarenko looks like and I haven't bothered to watch a single second of the women at this event. The prospect of five set matches of it never mind the knock on scheduling problems is a horrible prospect.

Personally I don't think the women should have been given equal prize money. It's not about sexism, it's about what actually draws the punters and the advertising revenues.

can people not see the contradiction in saying something is "unbelievable" and then believing it anyway?

Two fantastic matches where Djokovic prevailed in both. We`ll never know of course but I wonder what the reaction would have been if Murray had "blown" being a break up in the 5th set and putting that easy backhand wide at 15-30 on the Djokovic serve.

Yep, got my tickets today.

For those of the family types, it's a Free Child ticket with every adult ticket bought. Great deal.

£27 for Friday and Sunday, and a bargain £13 for the doubles on Saturday.

Is there anywhere I can watch the final in full?

Caldwell is actually a great centre half however consistency can be an issue for him, technically his distribution of the ball for a defender is as good as Pique or Puyol.

cheers, looking forward to pumping your joke team on saturday :D

i'm at a loss as to why people react so angrily to the suggestion that sportsmen who are performing at previously unimaginable levels might be using performance enhancing drugs.

It's less the insinuation, and more the way you made it. Pretty much every sport probably has a high level of people using performance enhancing drugs.

I didn't say I wanted them to, it certainly wouldn't make for good viewing 99% of the time. I just remember them moaning about wanting equal prize money and struggling to think of another profession where some people do half as much work as other people and demand to be paid the same.

Not for me. In that Davis Cup Final, Nadal was coming off the ATP World Tour Finals, where he struggled and said he was tired. For the first set against del Potro he was just very poor, and didn't play great all match. del Potro was solid, but certainly nothing more than that. I very nearly had money on del Potro finishing 2010 as World Number One, so I am certainly aware of how good he is capable of being, but he hasn't remotely played like he did in the summer of 2009 since he started playing after his long absence.

Del Potro has just destroyed Tomas Berdch today, after beating Troicki 6-0 6-1...

On his way back.... should be spot on by this Autumn and the US Open..
