Aussie Open starts on Monday. I see that Murray has drawn Karol Beck and could potentially face Nadal in the semi? Could this be his year?

Murray should fly through the first 3 rounds, but then it starts to get tough.

Probably Melzer/JMDP in R4, Soderling in the QF, Nadal in the SF.

Ach Swarley find a decent picture man, Murray should get to the semis, I would fancy him up against a recently injured JMDP and for some reason Soderling as well, see how it goes from there.

No way Murray will win this and I think he will struggle to get past Soderling in the QF.

Personally can't see past a Nadal - Federer final.

I gave up on Murray winning a title that means anything a long time ago.

Soderling combined H2H vs the Big Four: 7-28

He is nothing.

This is a picture of Ana Ivanovic.

I can't see past Nadal for this one, as much as I dislike him. Think Murray has as good a chance as ever, but as usual will bottle it. I'm a big fan of JW Tsonga. Rate him very highly, think he'll have a good tournament.

Not a major to his name. Won't ever be a major to his name either. He simply isn't good enough when it matters.

So Masters semi-finals and finals don't matter, is that right? Grand Slam quarter and sem-finals don't count either? What about the two occasions Murray defeated Rafael Nadal in Grand Slam competition, do they count? Only two matches in Murray's entire career have ever mattered, is that what your saying?

As British people we should be thankful for Murray as at least he often gives us a run for our money. He may well keep falling short, but imagine being a Latvian tennis fan. You'd go into each of the four majors hoping for Latvian success only for your only decent player, Ernests Gulbis, to lose in the first round every time without even winning a set.

It wasn't that long ago that every Brit went out in the first round!

This Ivanovic-Makarova match is a marathon.

Nearly 3 hours so far, Ivanovic has saved 5 match points.

Currently Makarova leads 8-7 in the 3rd

Is this the Ernest Gulbis we were told would achieve more in his career than Jo Wilfried Tsonga?

Humped in straight sets by Boris Becker's lesser known twin!

Women's tennis is utterly bizarre.

Becoming World Number 1 has been a poisoned chalice for a number of them. Ivanovic, Safina and Jankovic have all gone into massive decline after reaching the top spot. Almost immediately actually.

Murray was lucky he was playing someone who has wasted his career, because he was awful at times. That serve just isn't top level.

If he gets as far as the Quarters this year I can see Soderling beating him.
It's my solo party, it's my body, and if I choose to abuse it with my lifestyle and my music
What the f**k! I can't lose! It's my life! Why is it I can't keep you far enough away?
