You mean the black bits on either side of the nosecone just in front of the tyres? They are cameras. :P

EDIT ah you mean the aerial?

Well the second time it spun off it spun on its own oil and the first could've been Massa's fault.
It's getting kind of hard to believe things are going to get better. I've been drowning too long to believe that the tide is going to turn. And I've been living too hard to believe things are going to get easier now. I'm still trying to shake off the pain from the lessons I've learned. And if I see Van Helsing, I swear to the lord I will slay him. AHA HA HA. He take you from me but I swear I won't let it be so. AHA HA HA. Blood, will run done his face, when he is decapitated AH! His head on my mantle is how I will let this world know...how much I love you.
Die, die, die....I can't

The Mercedes is by far the best looking car that's been released, not keen on the McLaren or the Sauber.

Rumours on the boards are that he has a broken wrist and leg :( If true thats his season over before its even started - shame as he's one of the top 3 drivers at the moment.

oh dear. what on earth were renault thinking though letting him do this so close to the start of the year?!

so who gets his seat then? the Hulk?

edit: I see Fariuz Fauzy is the reserve. but surely you need to bring in someone who has driven in F1 before this late into prep for season?

Yes reading that just now, at the moment he is undergoing medical checks. I'am going to wait and see anything official rather than speculation. Hope he can make a full recovery and come back quick, pre season was going well and he looked like he could challenge.

Not important? he's not dead FFs. he's broken his arm and leg. He'll be fine, if out for a bit. Meanwhile it interests me who's filling the seat, it affects Renault share price who fills the seat. So, yes, pity for Bob, but he's not dead, I wish him well in his recovery, but he's out, time to move on -the season starts in 30 days.

I wonder why Renault let him drive in this type of event so close to the start of the year. That's someone to get the sack.

Bruno Senna is first choice reserve driver so it'll be him. Not ideal for the testing though.

..It was a personal opinion that's all, am I not allowed that?. I never challenged your opinion, I only answered with mine. Within minutes of the accident being reported, people were already speculating on who would sub for him. Its a sign of the times that the individual (this time a racing driver) is regarded as nothing more than the equivalent of a replacable light bulb. :(. That's all.

Info from Crash.net -

Kubica was competing on the second edition of the Ronde di Andora with his employer's permission when, less than five kilometres from the start today (Sunday), he and co-driver Jakub Gerber crashed their Skoda Fabia into a church wall. It took some time to free the driver, it seems, due to a guardrail having penetrated the car. Italian news agency ANSA reports that the Pole was airlifted to a hospital in nearby Genoa, with a Lotus Renault GP spokeswoman telling Reuters that Kubica is conscious.

'Robert Kubica suffered an accident at high speed this morning while competing in the Ronde di Andora Rally,' read an official team statement. 'The driver was airlifted to Pietra Ligure Hospital where he is currently undergoing medical checks. His co-driver is fine.'

Speculation about his alleged injuries ranges from a fractured hip and fractured arm and wrist to two broken legs and a smashed hand that may require amputation. Whilst Kubica's condition is not understood to be life-threatening, given that he underwent surgery to his left arm following an F3 accident eight years ago, there is now a question mark not only over his chances of making the curtain-raising Bahrain Grand Prix less than five weeks away – but also indeed over his future in F1.

AMPUTATION!!!! Hopefully thats just a stupid rumour.

Crofty says on Twitter that he has multiple fractures to his right arm, leg and hand. To have surgery this afternoon. Season over, possibly career as he has titanium rods in his arm after a crash in 2003.

I'd say his season is over and it totally screws Renault - putting Senna in would be like selling Fernando Torres and signing Brian Sewell to replace him.

I imagine they will be scurrying about and looking for a replacement and seeing if they can maybe swap Senna or Petrov from maybe one of TR or Force India guys or The Hulk.

They could get Chandhok. Technically lotus haven't signed him as their reserve driver though he was to test for them next week. And if renault lotus got him it'd be like two fingers to tony fernandes and his mob.

and yes I think Chandhok is better than Senna, just about.

edit: and if by some miracle bob is back before end of season Chandhok can just go to doing the five live comm box for a bit.

Video of the car -

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=78smQo6ZRk8

and info from the AP -

GENOA, Italy (AP) — Formula One driver Robert Kubica of Poland was injured Sunday in a rally car accident in Italy just weeks before the start of the new Grand Prix season, his Lotus Renault team said. Local health authority officials in Italy said Kubica's life was not in danger, and that the worst damage appeared to be to his limbs.

"Certainly it is a very delicate situation, as the first hours always are after a huge trauma, one in which there could also have been a strong bleeding," Roberto Carrozzino, a local health authority official, told Sky Italia.

His team said in a statement that after "undergoing extensive medical checks this morning, Robert Kubica has been diagnosed with multiple fractures to his right arm, leg and hand. He is currently undergoing surgery at the Santa Corona Hospital in Pietra Ligure."

The statement added that Kubica "suffered a high-speed accident this morning while competing in the Ronde di Andora Rally."

The ANSA news agency reported that an operation on the 26-year-old driver began just before 1300 GMT after professor Igor Rossello, a hand specialist, was called to the hospital.

Kubica, eighth in last year's F1 world championship, now looks unlikely to race at Bahrain on March 13.

Carrozzino said the driver underwent an examination to assess any possible damage to internal organs and the brain. Asked about a report that one his arms would be amputated, Carrozzino said that "all assessments have yet to be made."

"An amputation is not a decision that is made so rapidly," he said. "I do not confirm or deny this report."
