I only watch the matches broadcast on ESPN. It does me for viewing purposes but I keep forgetting to check the 'Fishal site for the latest Posted Image

It cost me in the MLB fantasy league (not the one on here) badly.

You'll be fine on here, because i'm still trying to work out what the hell is going on! I listen to podcasts and check the Mlb site, but i don't have a clue what i need to do for the fantasy game.

Not a bad start from the Braves......blanking the Nats

thought they would have let Lowe go a bit longer than 5.2 innings tho

You must be very confused then. Lowe had thrown 105 pitches and also had just walked Zimmerman to bring up (lefty) LaRoche as the potential tying run. Every manager in baseball would bring in the left handed reliever (O'Flaherty) to face LaRoche there.

listening to a podcast and was mentioned that Beckett could well be a huge concern for the red sox this year, bad 2010, terrible spring training. If Papelbon doesn't perform then the bullpen gets put in a strained position yet again and can Saltalamacchia actually throw anyone out?

so who's the potential "weak link (s)" on your team and why?

The ESPN baseball podcast is actually okay. A lot of the ESPN ones are just people shouting at each other, but I listen to that one and the Fantasy Baseball one too.

As for weak position, I would probably say Pat Burrell, as he's pretty ghastly in left field. However, it looks like he can still hit, and he came back for $1 million, which was a bargain. Our short stop could be a problem too, but they said that about Edgar Renteria and look what he did.

Edited to add; went for Premium, for those interested.

Fair play. I didn't watch the game just seen tge stats. I watched the Yankees-Tigers game.

105 pitches in under 6 innings? Were there lots of foulballs?

Not a lot of foul balls, that is just the way that Lowe pitches, and the way teams go up against him now. Everything is very low (ha), so there are a lot of balls if people are patient with him. He also had a lot of movement yesterday - but if you get around 6 innings of 0 Run baseball out of him every time, you'll accept that.

Apparently, it was all an April Fools joke by the Astro's closer, right?

I also can't believe the Astros didn't take him out - as Lyon was supposed to be only hitting about 86-88 with his fast-ball, and that is going to get eaten up every time by any team.

Although the braves pitched well yesterday, they didn't look to good with the bat either. It is too early to really make comments, but i'd be worried that the Phillies offense only got what, 2 hits in 8 innings against the Terrible Astros.....

Oh yeah, we got out of jail, no doubt about it. Both starters pitched well enough but the hitting was very poor from both teams. I know it's the first game but the same problems (relying on a big inning, suicidal bullpen work) have continued from last year.

I'm continuing my promise to watch more than just Phillies games; Texas v Boston has been a good watch so far. There's a part of me that also fancies Tampa v Baltimore which is starting soon.

I caught a bit of Tampa-Baltimore. I thought the Orioles looked pretty decent. Jeremy Guthrie looked sharp.

Where are all the Giants fans now?

I dont remember Lyon being a particularly hard thrower anyway, doesn't he top out at 90 generally?

Obviously there was a lack of hits yesterday but Myers pitched an excellent game, he was hitting his spots and didn't have many bad pitches all night.

Don't stress. Coming from 4-0 down in the 8th to win is good going no matter how soft the closer is throwing!

Phillies for the East, easily.

Pretty decent start.

Howard has been superb. 6 RBI's in 3 games is a tidy return. Rollins has started well aswell.

What's your thoughts on Francisco cowshed?he has a tonne of talent and ability but I think he lacks somethin. Can't quite put my fingeron what tho

They've not played against a San Francisco quality pitcher yet.

I see him entirely different to you. I don't think he has a tonne of talent or ability but at the same time I think he's a solid player and his numbers won't be that much below J-Werth's thisI year IMO.
If he's playing regularly I expect he'll put up .265, 25 HR & 85 RBI. He's got decent speed on the bases, should hit double digits in steals and plays the field reasonably well (apart from his error the other night).

We shall see, however.

When the braves best hitter is Alex Gonzalez, you know it is too early to say anything.

Doing far better than one of your star pitchers anyway - maybe you should get rid of Hamels? ;) ;)

Yeah, unfortunately we were blanked by Gallardo yesterday. I expected a 5-5 or 4-6 start to the season, so to be 3-2 i am happy, especially considering our starting pitching has been real good so far (not counting Hansons start, every other game our starter has given up 1 run or less)

Craig Kimbrel has also looked amazing as the closer - 2 games, 2 saves, 6 batters, 6 outs, 5Ks..... to make his career 0.40 ERA in 23 games, (22 2/3 innings) - only 9 hits and 45Ks.... (quite a few walks though)

Man the future looks bright for the braves..... i hope the Phillies enjoy "winning" while it lasts - it won't be long until we are back where we "belong" ;)

It's not really the best start though i'm sure it's just a blip, i can't really laugh at anyone with $142 million Carl Crawford not exactly setting the league on fire.... yet Posted Image
