Are Livi going to run away with the title for the 2nd year running? Personally I think so, Stirling were good champions last year but tbh Livi are an SPL level side are any other teams still holding onto any hope of winning this season or should Livi just be given promotion now?
Predictions: Accies to div.1, Livi to be top 6 in the SPL within 5 years, Dundee to be SPL within 3, Perthshirebell to be reinstated and made mod and finally every new poster with bad patter to be called "KrisBoyd alias" This is no hibeejibee.

I don't think Stirling Albion were "good" champions by any stretch of the imagination. Rank every 2nd division champion for the last 10 or so years and I'm sure Stirling would be pretty close to bottom.
Granted, I haven't seen them in action yet but I'm quite sure Livingston are not an SPL level side. I doubt many, if any, of their current players would cut it at that level right now. Maybe some of their young players will make it later.
You'd probably have to make them favourites at this stage. Full time, a strong team and a good start to the league although I doubt they'll have it wrapped up by March. My gut feeling is that Brechin or Alloa will give them a decent chase and they'll end up winning it by 10 or so points.

Alloa always come across as a team not good enough for Div.1 but a team that should always be in the top 2 of Div.2, very good 2nd division side.
I mean Livi as an SPL team in terms of their fanbase, stadium and potential, I can see them being back in and around the top 6 again within 5 years, such a shame what happened to them, I think they will win this year but as you say Brechin are playing quite well.

AYE JUST GIEUS PROMOTION NOW, TA VERY MUCH!!.
Bit early to be coming away with this, we've not even played everyone yet, so can't give any kind of opinion about promotion hopes.
So far i'd say Airdrie looked the best team we've played.
We were crap against Dumbarton but ground out a win purely because they were lacking any kind of decent finish to their play.
Alloa came back to draw with us, but TBH they shouldn't have had the chance, i think we'd close out the game against them now though, if we went a couple of goals ahead, going by our last 2 games i've seen a big improvement on our play, and defence.
Forfar weren't at the races, maybe their midweel game knackered them.
Even playing these teams once isn't enough to make a judgement on how they'll play next time, esp the ones we've still to play away at their ground.
Anyway, far too early to be saying this kind of stuff, even for an optimistic Livi fan, let alone another teams fan.

Going by the highlights I saw of them against Queen's Park, they don't.

Did you make the same joke last year? I seem to remember someone posting that.
I think we'll win the league but I disagree wholeheartedly that we are an SPL side. As you say, the stadium is there but we need the fans to fill it much better than we are currently doing. With the town's population, we should be looking for around 3-4000 home fans before we have a fanbase that we can be proud of. Not that we'll get that in the 2nd Division, I'm not suggesting that for a second, I just think that when we're on a good run and have big games that is what we should be aiming for. That will take time, obviously.
As Gordon EF says, I highly doubt any of our players would make the step up to the SPL. Keaghan Jacobs probably could in the long-term but he needs a good season in this league to prove himself.
I think we've been the better side in all of the games we've played so far but there's still a long way to go before we can think about running away with anything. As I said, I think we'll win the league but Brechin and Alloa will probably push us close.
You can quote me on that.

Crazy for anyone to come away with this after 3 games of the season i think Livi will win it but it will only be by a couple of points over us/Brechin.

No, I didn't. But I, like the vast majority, seem to be lost on how Livi can continue to play full-time football on the crowds which they draw given that they were already in such a perilous financial situation. I'd understand a hybrid club and not wanting to go part-time, but it really does take the piss when teams like ourselves and Ayr spent years waiting for the opportunity to arise in which we could gain promotion in a financially viable way only to see Livi spunk cash away to get back to the top. Maybe I'm merely being cynical given that they are no way near the business end of the league so to speak.
As for the second part. Offt. Livi have a solid fanbase but anyone suggesting they can go all the way and do three seasons and three promotions has to remember the second and first divisions are difficult leagues. Given that Dundee are willing to splash the cash, solid teams like Falkirk and Caley have came down in recent years, Dunfermline and Ross County are strong clubs and ourselves and Morton look to be steadily developing it would be a bold statement. Again though, we aren't in a situation where this is reality yet.

Well somebody did, I'm sure of it. If we had a squad that were all earning large wages, I'd agree with you but we're actually far from that. Most of the squad are young guys earning a max of £250 a week and a few of them even take up second jobs as well because they are effectively part-time. The wagebill has also gone down again this season after offloading a lot of the older members of the squad from last year.
I think you've caught the wrong end of the stick somewhere on the second part. I was talking about our poor attendances for the most part. To reiterate, I don't think we are anywhere near an SPL team.
You can quote me on that.

We maybe top of the league at the moment but it will be far from easy. As for Livi being of SPL standard...ha. I know SPL standard isn't very high at the moment but we are still a million miles away from reaching those heights again, if we ever can again.

I for one will be very surprised if they dont.Sure other teams will compete with them here and there over 90 minutes but over the long haul full time status is a massive advantage over a season.Ten points clear by Xmas i reckon .Not that i am bothered as the Loons have smaller fish to fry and Livi dont bother me anymore. After last seasons Div3 forum its all been said 100 times over.

Good thread here, KB.
I have to say the answer has to be no. Our full-time status gives us a big advantage over the other teams in this division, and confidence is high amongst supporters. We will lose a few matches by the end of the season. However, I still expect us to win this league.
Hopefully, we can strengthen and possibly look towards the SPL in the next 5/6 years. We certainly have the stadium to compete at that level, and if we were to play in the SPL, we'd get decent support for that level. It's a shame what's happened in the past, but we shall keep the faith.

Our home form has been really good, away however we've only played one game and we were terrible, wouldn't get carried away just yet.
Being FT will also help come the winter months, but unless the players are good enough it wont make a bit of difference.
