Hat trick from Sid and some strange decisions from the ref. Yetholm got an even softer penalty than the Fairydean did against Hawick which I never thought I would see this year.
Heard Stow lost 3-1 at Eyemouth and Earlston lost 6-2 at Tweeddale.

Aye 3-1 to Eyemouth the day in what was a hard fought victory! Stow clearly started the game better n took a 1-0 lead after about 10mins! Eyemouth battle back into the game after a shot saved by the keeper was easily put into the back of the net on the rebound by Andy patterson! 1-1 at half time!
Eyemouth were given a penalty after a blatent pull in the box but the keeper made a good save n gathered at the 2nd attempt! we did however take the lead with about 25mins to go or so, when the keeper tackled our striker n the ball fell kindly again to Andy P who made no mistake! both teams battled away with stow pushin for an equaliser n eyemouth hittin on the break! Stow and Eyemouth both had a player sent off with about 10 to go for pushing! with 5mins to go eye hit stow on the break and young Jeff Collin cooly curled the ball over the keeper into the top bag from about 20 yards or so!
Good win for the boys

Not a bad game, chances at either end. Ben Stephenson scored with a header after an hour. Langholm equalised after a scrap in the box with 5 minutes to go.

A comfortable win for the Vics although we made it hard for ourselves at the end. 2-0 up with 10 mins to go when Kelso pulled one back. Luckily we managed to go on and score another 3 to finish the game off before a late consolation.
Heart of Liddesdale with a 12-0 win I see yesterday. Either they are really good or St Boswells are shite. Maybe a bit of both...

A bit of both, I'd say. HofL are an A Division standard team playing in the C Division, based on what I saw. Boswells were seriously under-strength and suffered as a consequence. The acid-test for HofL will be whether they can take the same squad on the road, as they have available at home. And what a road that is, too. I'm glad I won't have to take THAT trip in January/February !!! Good luck to Dave Blaikie and his boys, though. I'm confident that they will amply demonstrate that they are a good side when they play the rest of C Division.
And as for Japs shouting their mouths off this early in the season ?? The smart money is tipping Selkirk and Hearts of Liddesdale to go up, but it's AWFY early in the season to be labelling a team "shite". That's not clever and I suspect you ain't, either. Limp-dick.

Don't think the Rovers will be winning the league on this evidence. They are clearly missing Pinnons and Hardie and lack a bit up front and on the wings. Shane Greene was running things for them from the back and scored their goal but it looks as if Ryan Grant and one or two others are maybe lacking a bit of fitness. Dougie Bond did ok and young Collins is one to watch. From what I remember of Chirnside it looked a newish team so don't think they'll be winning it either.

Wasn't the start we were obviously hoping for. Had 7 boys missing for various reasons from suspensions to music festivals, were late in getting there, didn't start playing until 2nd half and were 2-0 down to wind assisted free kick and shot from edge of the box. Played better in 2nd half but went 3-0 down before scoring and then hitting the bar but fell further behind. West Barns played well and kept the ball better and played at a better tempo but it's a learning curve for us with a lot of inexperience and only 3 boys with any sort of 1st Div experience. Overall a day to forget but with the 7 boys coming back and some hard work I'm sure we will be able to compete a bit better than we did yesterday and we are all looking forward to a bit o a derby against Newtown this Sat.

Newtown 1 - 2 Leithen Rovers
Very close game that turned a bit feiry in second half. Leithen Rovers had the better of the first half hitting the bar and forcing a couple of good saves from henry. HT 0-0.
After the break, rovers upped the pace and should have been 2 up within five minutes with fleming missing a couple of chances that he really shouldve put away. Newtown then went up the park and there left winger was stupidly fouled in the corner. From the resulting freekick the ball went in off the rovers centre half forrest.
This spurred rovers on and they were on level terms within 5 minutes with some neat play and a nice cut back from amcintyre to mcmath to hammer home.
Couple of penalty claims for both sides, one for newtown and 3 for rovers but none were awarded. With about 5 to go, a nice through ball saw mcmath clean through(although he gave the defender about 10 yards) and he finished superbly in the top bin.
Probably just shaded in the end although our left back should ahve been sent off for a number of fouls after being booked.
Newtown are a better side than last year and the new mangers are encouraging them to play from the back, they should not be discounted and will be a force this year.
Good luck to them.
Chovie......see you on sat!
