As the title says Dunbar ams have pulled out of the league before a ball is even kicked. This is a bit of a joke as you would have thought they would have a team organised before applying to the border amateur, they shouldnt be allowed to apply again as they have been coming in and out the league for years for one reason or another.

I am in complete agreement, it has just made a mockery of the AGM.

Ive been saying for a while, I didnt know how they will get a team together. Im from Dunbar and most of the local players play for West Barns, East Linton or Dunbar Juniors so didnt know where they were going to get their players. It does seem a bit of a joke entering a team before knowing if they can actually get a manager and 11 players together.

If that does happen AT, then it is going to leave the leagues 12, 11 and 11.

Surely they have to think about promoting another team from c division, i.e. the 5th place side?!

Think that would require an EGM, and the fixtures already out for both divsions would go a bit Pete Tong.
Real shame this cos the BAL looked good with 12/12/12.

<BR><BR> Whilst the possible demise of Chirnside colts was totally unexpected, especially after their well deserved promotion, maybe now a wee bit more consideration will be given to new applications before the doors of the BAFA are thrown open to welcome new teams. I remember posts on P&B way before the AGM stating that a new club in Dunbar would struggle. I agree the 12/12/12 was a good formation but due thought must be given. "Look before you leap" springs to mind. Can't be bad when you are finishing in 5th place and challenging for a promotion placePosted Image . Maybe a new criteria of a certain amount of signed players prior to application may help.

Have Dunbar and Chirnside Colts both confirmed their withdrawal or is it just specualtion? You'd have to leave the A & B with 11 teams in it surely, 5 teams promoted from the C would be a joke!!!! This will simply mean a free weekend for every team when they are due to play Dunbar or Chirnside Colts.

It was a joke that 4 got promoted in the first place. Chirnside colts will know there fate tonight at there EGM. Why would you leave the A and B with 11 teams each? A division wont be affected, but that would leave B divison with 11 and C with 11, doesnt make sense to leave it like that when you could have it 12/12/10 and everyone would be playing!!
Simples.......

It is too late to change anything going by the constitution, a special meeting would be required with 7 days notice to all clubs and the change approved by the SAFA. Hopefully Chirnside Colts will continue and there will be damage limitation.

Yeah that would be sensible but I think it'd be ridiculous to promote a fifth side. Maybe put Gala Hotspur back up into the B?

if Dunbar apply to get in again in a couple of years you can bet your life they will be allowed...just like Berwick Rangers reserves were allowed back into EOS Div 1 again after bailing oot the last time...

If Langholm boys had booked a minibus for Saturdays game at Dunbar would Bafa compensate them if they'd paid a deposit on booking the bus??

Not if Dunbar had notified the BAFA and had their resignation accepted. They will have paid their membership so I dare say the league could possibly compensate their opponents however on past cases of late call offs, etc it is unlikely.

Resignations

28a. When a club intimates its resignation from the League such club must notify their opponents and referees until such time as their resignation has been accepted by the General Committee, and failing which they will be treated as a defaulting club.

Better to resign now than a few games in, tbh. Presumably there will be 3-up-2-down at the end of the season between B and C? This would let the divisions become 12-12-10 and therefore allow any applications for new membership. Didn't a club leave the BAL back at the AGM anyway...?

I would be very surprised if they moved a team up from B to C at this stage... means promoting an unprepared team, altering fixtures, plus have some of the divisional cups been drawn (i.e. they'd be in wrong cups)? Furthermore running 12-11-11 requires 1 less referee each weekend too.

i personally didnt think dunbar or hearts of liddesdale should of been let i anyways nothing against the teams in question but until the reffereeing numbers increase the less teams the better within reason of course. it didnt affect the A div as much but the C div had plenty call off due to lack of refs.
